Question about JVC AV-56WP74 56" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
My JVC AV-56WP74 has the screen bowed on the top and bottom. The color has a green and purple tint. The picture on the top and bottom is doubled with green and purple, i can see the picture in the middle of the screen (not clear). Someone said that i have a convergence problem. I will have to replace or repair the ic to solve it. What is ic? Where do i get this part? Should i just have a repair store fix this problem or just buy a new tv?
Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

You need to replace both convergence ICs they are STK392-110 you may want to get the resistor kit as your model will usually have a couple open resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they provide free instructions with pictures so you can easially do the repair your self.
Heres the link.
