Is there anyway that I can turn the microphone off on my camera. I don't need the sound. The camera is used for work.

If you take any type of microphone jack with nothing connected to it and plug it into the mic input on the camera, it will cancel out the internal mic and you won't record any sound. You can even use the A/V cord in the mic input as long as it isn't connected to anything on the other end.

I don't think you can actually switch off the microphone, but turning the recording volume all the way down should do the trick.

Can I add a webcam to my computer and do I need a mic?

Yes, you should be able to add a webcam. If your computer is running XP or later, you can find cameras almost anywhere. For Mac machines the selection is more limited, but Mac-compatible cameras are available. Cameras typically have a microphone built in, so you don't need a separate one. You don't actually need a microphone at all to use a camera, but if you want to use programs like Skype or do video chatting, you need one for the sound. The webcam will come with a disc containing the necessary drivers and installation program, so getting it working is usually not a difficult job.

Im trying to use skype but nobody can hear me and i dont know what i need to do

Make a call to echo

Echo will ask for you to speak and then your words will be echoed back. If you don't hear your voice you need to make sure Skype is using the right microphone input. If you are using a desktop PC with a USB camera, you may want to make sure you have the input settings set to the camera as they default to the on-board sound card.

Likewise, if you have some sort of device that could have diverted the mic input away from the microphone you need to check that too.

So from Skype:
  • Go to Tools menu
  • Choose Options
  • Choose Audio Settings
  • Make sure the Microphone is on the right device

Hi, Internal microphone on my acer aspire 8920g which originally has vista is not working now on windows 7. To be honest I didn't pay attention while I had vista and can't now remember if it worked at...

I suggest you go into control panel and device manager and see if your internal mic is listed there. If it is right click on it and see if it is selected as your default mic. I believe it may be un-selected. If that doesn't work I would just use the external mic with Skype as the internal mics with most laptops aren't that good anyway.

Olympus sp510uz no sound on video

From SP510 camera switched off:

4. Select "Camera Menu" from screen if not already on it, using navigation buttons on back plate
5. Scroll down yellow "Camera menu" tabs to microphone picture (below "Digital Zoom"), which may be showing "off". Select OK and toggle yellow tab from "off" to "on", then press OK button.
6. Microphone tab should now show "on".
7. Return to main menu (press MENU button).
8. Return to image screen (press MENU button).
9. Test to see if video now records sound.

Microphone on Finepix f10 not working

If the old video is playing the sound on the camera then it only proves that its speaker is working. Take another video and if there is no sound anymore then the mic is gone. Send it to Fuji for service.
