Water Dispenser for Frigidaire

Hi, I followed all of the instructions for replacing the paddle on my water dispenser, however, the control wire came off of the front portion of the refrigerator (the part that must be removed in order to access the water paddle.  I have tried to reattach the wire and it won't seem to stay.  I put everything back together just to see and now neither the ice maker nor the water works.  Any suggestions would be helpful!   Thanks!

Very speedy reply, thank you!  I tried this and it didn't work.  It almost seems like the place where you fit the strap is not "open" enough.  It seems to be 1/8 of an inch of space and so I am not sure how it was secured before it fell off.  Is there something else that I should try?  Thank you again!

that is exactly what I am talking about...I can see where the connection is, and it fits, perfectly, it just doesn't stay.

Thank you so much, Tech 17, but I have an appointment for the ice maker portion to be fixed tomorrow, anyway...I'll just have them fix them both at the same time.  I really appreciate your quick response, and the fact that you are willing to go the distance.  I hope you have a great day, and thank you again!

My control ribbon came out as well. I was able to mash it back together but now the ice dispenser runs steady when I put power back on. The switch in the unit is not made but the dispenser motor will not go off. Is there a way to see if this is related to the controller on the front or a switch inside? Do I need to order a board and cable to fix this problem?

Where is the ribbon cable installed on the water dispenser when the paddle is installed?

now if you are talking where the connector goes on the buttons panel it can be tricky it will look like a fiber board there with two slots on either side that's what the connector goes on although it don't look like an electrical connector it looks like a fiber board if your looking at it edgewise is that what your talking about look for the slots they are just as wide as the connector

ok about the cheapest way i could think of to deal with this would be to get a single strand of copper wire wrap it around the wires at the base of the connector push it on tight back out one of the small screws and wrap the wire around it then screw it down ill be here we will get it fixed

Everything normal on my GE Profile Model PFSF6PKWBBB French door bottom freezer refridgerator except the water dispenser just quit dispensing water. Is it frozen? How do I fix it?

The paddle that you push the glass against to dispense water activates a microswitch. Sometimes this switch can break off it's mount and drop away from it's intended position. The microswitch operates a solenoid valve near where the water line enters the back of the fridge. Then there's the wiring in between them. The water line doesn't go through the freezer. It runs through the refrigerator in a coil of tubing then into the door of the dispenser. Check the paddle switch, the water solenoid and the wiring and you'll find the reason it doesn't work

Frigidaire GLRSF266J side by side makes ice, but dispenser won't work, what can I do?

The part that holds the switch in the dispenser door may have allowed the paddle to no longer contact the switch correctly. Look for a discolored wire connector under the hinge cover on the freezer door. If it looks all in order the water solenoid located where the water line attaches to the fridge may be bad.

How to replace broken water dispenser paddle?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand you want to know how to replace the water dispenser paddle in your Electrolux refrigerator, model# E23CS786SS1. Typically, this is not a di it yourself repair, as there are no step by step instruction manuals. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They have been trained on your appliance and should be able to replace the dispenser paddle with ease. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I have a Frigidaire model number PLHS67EESB9 side by side refrigerator. About 4 months, I has the water dispenser paddle replaced by a trained technician. Recently, the when the freezer door was opened...

Start by looking at the circuit boards for any sign of cracks or a trace coming off the board. Also, check all the ribbon wires for any signs of a break, corrosion, and so on. As soon as my database comes back online I will look to see if I have a service manual for that unit and any test procedures that you may do. Also, look at the door switch for any shorts or wire breakage. Post back any results to me.

Ice dispenser stuck on

Either the paddle for the ice/water dispenser is stuck or you have a bad microswitch behind the dispenser.
To stop the ice/water from dispensing open the freezer door and press or hold the child lock button down. Once the unit is in child lock mode you can shut the door without energizing the dispenser.
Another option is to remove the upper freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the wire connector up there. This will remove voltage from the dispenser as well. Then either replace the paddle or switch. Sometimes the paddles/switches will get stuck because of splash up from ice dropping in sugary drinks.

Water Actuator is broken.

I had the same problem with my water dispenser and since they were willing to sell me a part but provided no directions and I couldn't locate any I decided to make my own for those who might need them. Here is a link to a PDF I made, hope it helps.

Before starting this job I would also like to warn all to please be save and UNPLUG the fridge. The whole job took me less then 30 minutes and I doubt anything will go bad in that amount of time.
