Question about Xerox Phaser 8550DP Printer

1 Answer

Smearing papers Hi. I've had my Phaser for a little over a year. Shortly after the warranty expired I started experiencing problems with the paper smearing-printing double or triple exposure- nearly all the time. It has been completely cleaned, all the diagnostics run, a new 10,000 page drum- nothing has fixed the problem. Xerox wants more to fix it than it costs to buy a new one. It never had a single problem in the first year. Please help if you can. I've invested a lot in this printer. Many thanks- Harvest

Re: smearing papers

Try telling them that it has not even been a year yet and you are having these problems, since it is just over a year. Let them know of the fixings you've done and threaten to make a BBB complaint against the organization if they do not accommodate repairs for your printer. This is corporate bull crap. They set it up for this to happen and hope that you'll just buy the new printer. Stick with your guns and make them repair it. Let me know what happens.

My Xerox Phaser 6125 smears black (!) toner, extra obvious and totalley unacceptable on double sided printed sheets. Different types of paper all show the same problem.

This would normally be the cleaning unit to blame. If in doubt go,to the website and investigate further.
Good luck.

Won't take paper in to copy mach, other wise it works great

if it is 4 months old then it should be under the warranty call the customer service immidiately if the product is under warranty and donot open the printer by your self as it could void the warranty

if the warranty has expired then check whether the rollers are clean and properly aligned if it throws the paper at an angle the rollers are surely not aligned properly

Phaser 8200 Smears on Linen Paper

Your maintenance kit is running low on oil and needs to be replaced. Since the image drum is not getting enough lubrication, some of the ink from the previous page is sticking to the drum and carried over onto the next page. Also, try to match the printer paper type to the paper you are using. It will adjust speed, temperature, etc. to optimize print.

Repeated paper jams

These errors are usually caused by a cracked DM Camshaft (Drum Maintenance). This was a very common problem for Xerox, they usually broke while under warranty, but there a heck of a lot out there that are just now going bad after a year.

You may or may not need to replace the "Motor Process Drive Gears" as well as the DM camshaft.

You might be able to talk Xerox into doing this as a warranty repair, if you ***** real loud.

Xerox phaser 7700 having problems printing transparencies and accumulator belt problems

Hi xander4265:

There are dark lines running along

The printer displays no error code.

1. Check the end of life for each of
the consumables by printing the
supplies usage page. From the front panel’s Printable Pages Menu, select
Print Supplies Page.
2. Run the solid fill test pages; From the front panel’s Printable Pages Menu,
select Service Pages, then select Print Solid Fill Pages. If the missing bands
only occur in a single primary color, replace the print cartridge of the affected
3. Swap print cartridges and run another test print.
Note Under some circumstances, streaking may occur in the margin of
SRA3-size paper. This is due to the edges of the paper extending
beyond the end of the imaging components. print-quality in the
margins of SRA3 paper is not guaranteed.
4. Inspect the Accumulator Belt cleaner; replace the cleaner, if necessary.
5. Run the Remove Print Smears routine. From the front panel’s Support Menu,
select Improve Print-Quality?, then select Remove Print Smears.
6. Replace the Developer Housing Assembly (RRP 27, on page 7-171).
7. Remove the print cartridge and (with a flashlight) check for debris along the
edge of the developer housing.

hope that this will help you.

Phaser 7300n Printing on Double Sided Glossy Paper

At first I didn't think the paper was the problem, but I looked up the specs on it and is seems to be a paper designed for an offset press.
I suspect after reading the information on the paper that the coating is not designed for the high temperatures of a laser printiers fuser heat of over 350 degrees.
I do suspect the paper is the issue.
sounds like you are melting the coating.
