I've had this display for several years and have never had a problem. Recently had dust from office construction on the display and attempted to vacuum it off but didn't get it all. I then used compressed air to blow off the display and immediately noticed dust between the display light source and the image layer. Taking a screen snapshot does not capture the dust (thus my conclusion that it is dust between the two layers). It is remarkable that Apple would manufacture the display in a manner that would allow dust in between the layers.

Same time happened to me. three specs came out of nowhere and they are behind the actual LCD but in front of the backlight. I'd think they are fungus.... How is this thing not sealed?

i have the same problem - looks like dust in the backlight. Did anyone found a way to clean it or first just to open the display?

    Any instruction?

My brand new (bought last night) has a speck of dust inside, smack in the center of the screen. I am considering using a magnet to get it off. bad idea?

Well, I pretty much knew that the display would have to be disassembled to clean the dust out. I should have been more specific by asking if the display "could" be taken apart to clean it out, especially since the dust is in between the image and light source layers.

The dust in a can will ruin a computer because it only blows the dust around. Use a vacuum cleaner or a dry vac to get rid of dust.

The only solution to your problem would be to take the screen apart and clean the dust out.
