KUDS24SE model..... latch and handle both broke. (same as all of you above) take a screwdriver, knife, etc...(6 inches long) and put it through the hole where the handle should be. The actual locking latch is at the very top of the inside of the panel.....if you poke around a bit you will 'find' the latch and be able to push it in (slight pressure - not much). This will unlock the door.
Unfortunately you're now going to need to buy a new handle (and possibly - as I had to do rebuild the interior portion of the control panel plastic so that the new handle had a place to attach. (Epoxy worked on the plastic and all of the broken parts were actually down inside the door when I got that control panel removed.)
Hope it helps...... now I'm out on this forum looking for a posting on how to open the damn door when the handle/latch is NOT broken......just about ready to go back to hand washing......at least that works!

Why does my detergent latch open up while the dishwasher is running?

If neither the detergent flap open or the rinse aid is being dispensed the this is usually down to a faulty or 'open circuit' solenoid that operates the dispensor unit.

My Kitchen Aid dishwasher, model KUDK03FTSS3, is stuck in a loop of some sort. It starts, but freezes after a few minutes. Does anyone know the reset key sequence to make this go away? Kitchen Aid customer...

Hi. Pressing and holding the cancel button may reset the unit at this time,as well as, pulling the ac plug out of the wall outlet for five minutes. With that said, I will provide the proper reset sequence below. 1. Open the door of the unit slightly. 2. Within three seconds, press the following sequence in this order-high temp scrub, energy saver dry, high temp scrub, energy saver dry. 3. After the sequence, close the unit door and latch it. 4. After the door is closed, press the cancel button. This will reset the main control, unless there is major damage to the circuitry of the control board.

Dishwasher won't run. Normal light and cancel light flashing cont

Hi,

The door latch pulls the door tightly closed to prevent water leakage around the door. It is also designed to prevent operation while the door is open. The door latch works in concert with the door switch to ensure that the door is tightly closed and latched. The door switch is a separate part from the door latch and is found inside the cabinet. The switch is off when the door is open. Depressing the switch closes the circuit and enables dishwasher operation. Closing the door does not depress the switch all the way. Only when the door is closed and latched, does the door fully depress the switch.

If the door latch is not properly aligned it may not pull the door tightly closed and the door switch will not be fully depressed. Unless the switch is fully depressed the dishwasher will not operate. It is a simple matter to determine whether the door latch is the problem. Simply open the door, close the latch and select a cycle and depress the switch. Note that if the test is successful, with the door open, the dishwasher will operate and water may spray out. Make sure to first remove all tools from inside the dishwasher. Do not reach inside the dishwasher during the test. Now, inspect the cabinet where the door makes contact with it and locate the door switch. It may have a protruding button or spike or more likely it is a hole with a piece of metal or plastic inside it. You must fully depress that switch. If the switch is recessed, then use a non-conductive object, such as a wooden pencil, to depress the switch.

Thank you !!

Need door latch diagram Kitchen Aid dishwasher (Part No. 9744033)

I thought the metal bar had to be locked into place somewhere in the black latch. This was not the case. I just put the white plastic latch in place in the slot in the door and closed the panel and the metal bar went into the correct position against the black latch.

Kitchenaid dishwasher - door will not latch

The latch needs to be replaced. Kitchen Aid has made two updates to this latch. I.E. 2-revised latches. I just replacd the latch assembly and the dishwasher works fine now. Do a search for kitchen aid repair parts online and hav them shipped to your home. The repair takes five minutes. Un-screw all torx bit screws on door and the latch is under neath. One electrical dip switch held on by another screw and a two prong tab to undo the old latch. This seriously took me five minutes to repair and the parts were $40.00 online shipped.

Hope his helps.
