We own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with an automatic transmission at low speeds the transmission is shifting from 1st to 2nd gear back and forth and back and forth. Once you get it going fast enough to shift up into 3rd gear it runs fine. It also does not do this in 4 low. The truck is not throwing any scan codes. We replaced the throttle positioning sensor, and it didn't help. We are unsure what to try next. Has anyone else had this proplem, and how was it solved?

Sounds like a valve body problem in the tranny first try some trans matic you can get it at auto zone if that doesnt help try a fluid and filter change in the tranny!!!!!!!!

Governor pressure controls the 1st and 2nd shifts. After that is the 3 and 4 solenoids. you would need to look at the pressure when driving(takes a scanner). pressure is 20 to 30 PSI from 1st to 2nd, depends on acceleration. After that the pressure will jump to 100+ psi. Did you replace the governor solenoid and sensor? They are on the passenger side of the transmission and sit in a block that detaches from the valve body.

For
car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be
transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.
For

the transmittion keeps shifting in & out of gear between 45 & 50 mph it shifts to a higher gear then a lower then higher then lower till I get above 50 mph whats the problem & how to fix it
Could be as simple as low transmission fluid, but it can also be your shift solenoids or gonked up valve body. Star with checking your transmission fluid level. On that vehicle its pretty simple. There should be a yellow dipstick. Vehicle needs to be on and on operating temperature. Gear selector in P or N. Pull the dipstick out and see what it reads.
sounds like filter could be clogged, if it hasn't been changed in a while. you can try to replace throttle position sencer, it is like your old trans kinkenge system, only now, it is elect. it tells trans when to shift, like your speed sencer on trans doe's. both can make it act like it is.
yes sounds like the one of your transmission shift solenoids is out or going out on you check them out see if can see if wires loose or if they are faulty try get a diagram see if can find out which solenoid controls 1 and 2 gear theres 4 solenoids total i believe but this is your problem
Most likely the second gear section of the transmission has gone bad. There are 3 or 4 different gear sections or assemblies in an automatic transmission, when they go bad, they go bad.
mine does too on a 1997 dodge ram 5.9l automatic tranny from first to second it is jerking and jumping and then finally shifts into second i just had the tranny rebuilt probably 20 miles ago so as soon as you figure out the problem let me know asap my number is 2282432853
