Presser foot Hi! And thanks for having a help line.. much appreciated. I have an issue with a kenmore 14. when the presser foot handle is in the down position, but presser foot doesn't reach the fabric by about 1/8 inch. How in the world is that possible?! *laughing* and where did i lose that sock?

Presser foot level on pfaff 1540 will not go down?

Hi Donna. The lube in your pressed bar had gone gummy. There is a spring inside the bar and it gets stuck. You will need to have a pfaff service tech clean and relube it. Could be included in a standard machine service.

Hello, I have a kenmore sewing machine model #385.19233 . It is not broken, what i need is someone who can tell me how to get this machine to do free motion sewing. I hope you can help me.

If your machine has an embroidery foot, this will allow you to free motion embroidery. The embroidery foot will be positioned close to the fabric but will not hold the fabric in place. The presser foot must be down so that you will have the correct tension. Once the foot is on, the presser foot lifter is in the down position, then it's up to you to guide the fabric under the machine in the pattern you want. I advise a regular straight stitch with about 6-8 stitches to the inch. Move the fabric at a medium speed under the foot. If you move too slowly the stitches will be too close. If you move too quickly you'll have HUGE skips in your stitches. The main thing to know is that you can't use a regular foot because it will hold the fabric in place, even if you lower the feed dogs. When I free motion, I use the embroidery foot and keep the feed dogs up just to give a little resistance but NOT to hold the fabric in place. I love doing the free motion and I hope this helps you get started. If it helps you, please come back and rate my advice. Thanks!

Bad stitching

Re thread the machine with the presser foot up and this will ensure the thread is properly seated into the tension control.

Use a 14 or 16 needle as they have a larger groove on the front of the needle to better control the thread.

Make sure the presser foot is down (it can happen).

My kenmore sewing machine needle is coming down on presser foot.

Check the needle to make sure it is inserted with the flat side of the shaft toward the back of the machine.

Also, check to be sure the needle is not bent.

Remove the presser foot and see if the needle clears the opening in the needle plate and pulls up the bobbin thread.

If all of the above checks out, switch to a presser foot with a wider opening.

If not, the machine needs to be serviced as it may be the timing has to be adjusted.

Whenever you pick up a machine that has been serviced, try it out before taking it home.

The presser foot lifter of my Singer 9432 has disconnected

Had the same problem.
Open the cover where the light bulb is.

Follow the presser foot rod up into the machine.

You will find a metal keeper with a set screw facing the now open end of the machine.

That set screw has most likely come loose.

Since the presser foot is spring loaded to the down position leave the presser foot raising lever in the down position.

With your flat bladed screwdriver, gently push the metal keeper to it's lowest position. If it does not go easy, loosen the metal keeper set screw a bit. Lefty loosey.

Tighten the set screw on the metal keeper. Righty tighty.

How do I install my darning foot?

First, raise the presser bar, remove the presser foot, the presser foot holder and screw.

Turn the handwheel to bring the needle to its highest position.

Place the darning foot on the presser bar and make sure that the metal bar of the darning foot is above the needle clamp and put the screw back on and tighten.

As the needle bar raises and lowers, the foot will hop up and down slightly.

Make sure that you always lower the presser bar when using this foot. Lower the feed dogs also if your machine has this feature.

Can't lift handle for my foot presser

Take the machine apart to the point where you can see the pivot point for the presser bar lifter and spray WD40. Let sit for a few hours and try again. Repeat until the presser bar lifter releases.

The foot on my Kenmore sewing machine model 15516 was removed and I cant get it back on.

If it is a snap on foot, just line up the bar with the "hook" on the shank and drop the presser foot lever into the down position, it should snap back into place.

How to connect the walking foot for ls-2125i? I have removed the snap on presser foot. Unscrewed the leg so I could screw on the foot. The white piece to the right does not fit on my screw so it just...

Turn power switch to "0"
raise the needle to highest position by turning the wheel toward you(counterclockwise) and raise the presser foot lever
release the foot by raising the lever located at the back of the presser foot assembly
place a different presser foot on the needle plate so that the bar on the presser foot is in line with the slot on the shank
lower the presser foot lever and fix the presser foot onto the shank. If the p foot is in the correct location the bar will snap in you should hear a click or snapping sound let me know if this helped thanks! amy
