I take it you're using a form, which is in a forms or templates folder. I usually make PDF's directly from the file (customer quotations for example) that they belong in, so the 'current' path which Acrobat is designed to choose by default is conveniently the location I want the PDF also stored in. Is it possible for you to simply create a shortcut to the desired location in the folder that Acrobat is showing you?
Instead of secifying an ouput path in the prefrences, Try leaving it Blank or there is an option to always ask, turn that on..
I found a progran written in C# but you will need to modify it to suite your Abobe ... API,, You will need Visual studio.net to use it though i am seeking another, But dont you think it would just be easier, for you to just 'browse' for the output path that way you are sure where it will be going ?? If you wish to try the script let me know and i will send the link with full instructions,, but you will still require some programming skills..
BTW if you want to use the program everytime you have to use it you will need to run it..!!
ok let me see if i can find a tutorial for you..
HEY I FOUND THESE

Leaving it blank essentially means i still have to 'browse' for the current desired directory path, which isnt a lot better than the above noted setup procedure... I'd like to know if a script or macro could be set up to 'update' the Output Path parameter in Adobe (since we are jumping from job_directory to job_directory about 60 to 80 times a day, & writing Adobe PDF documents about half the time).
DB.
There is no preexisting template; our software generates a graphic representation of an (oil/gas) wellbore, usually 100 to 200 inches long, defaulting to an EMF Windows format. BUT, one of the ouput options allows us to save the never-existed-before image in several formats, one of which is Adobe/PDF (version 7.0). When that option is clicked, the 'path' that shows up is either a fixed one I define (i.e. C;\Log_Data_dir) , or the the most previously written PDF graphic image's location (which was always the job just previously finished, i.e. wrong directory)
Just trying to find out if there is a way to click on an Icon before starting a job, that will make my current location the place Adobe 'thinks' it wrote the last image.
Acrobat Distillr apparently has a parameter for output path, but I am way too Adobe/naive to even begin to try to program such a command.
per DARKLORD!:: But dont you think it would just be easier, for you to just 'browse' for the output path that way you are sure where it will be going ??
- Well, no, actually not. Another Program we use here (called DeskTop PetroPhysics) also 'defaults' back to the last job worked directory. BUT, we discovered an "ini" file it reads that contained the working path for the DPP software, and we modify it with this little script...
ECHO OFF
pwd | awk '{printf ($1)}'>
c:\desktop_activepath.txt
... and life becomes much more efficient.
Just trying to find out where Adobe stores its most recent path, and find some way to 'update' it (similarly).
We jump in-and-out of about 25-30 Wellfile job directories and day, and browsing down thru
C: >> \Class_data >> \\Log_data >> Jobs >> Oil_Company_Name >> Wellfile_name ...
is a bit of a pain.. but we do it a lot.
Currently I am 'hard-wiring' my output path (see original post) to write the PDF files into the above mentioned \\Log_data directory, and then dragging and dropping it in the appropriate windows directory.
I'm not sure (obviously), but the documentation for Acrobat Distillr sure looks like a path to where I wanna go; but I dont know how to write or invoke ps scripts.
thnx.. DB.
