the screen is off set by about 8 inches. Can it be brought down to the bottom of the actual screen viewing area?

the convergence (the color) is not off. The entire screen is off set; too high by 8 inches. Can that be fixed using the remote control?

If the convergence adjustements are not responding to the remote control, in most cases the convergency ICs are defective.
There is hand desoldering/soldering involve to replace those parts.

High blue resolution and foggy screen.

ll projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Can not find convergence on tv settings

Convergence settings are internal to the set on a circuit board somewhere. If you do not have a service manual for this set and some rather expensive equipment, it is unlikely you would be able to restore convergence.
Normally, convergence does not drift unless some electrolytic capacitors have aged to the point that they cannot maintain high enough voltage. This means that, even if you could find the pots that control the convergence, they would not be able to restore convergence.
The inside of a projection TV has DANGEROUS high voltages that can persist for WEEKS after the set is turned off. We are talking HEART ATTACK voltages.
You should have your set repaired by a qualified (insured) service technician.

Rca d52w20 convergence is not working. The auto and the manual adjustments won't work to fix it. The repair guy said $400.00 to $500.00 to fix. That seems affually high. Is this somrthing I can do myself?

You can fix it yourself for less than 45.00 by getting a simple repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com

Conergence issue

The convergence output IC's need to be replaced. This is a very common problem for all projection sets as those amps are high current devices with a fairly high failure rate. The job can be done in the home. Depending on where you live the cost is around $200 to $300.

Toshiba 41h81 green convergence problem

Below are two of the most common problems encountered with projection TV sets.

Problem #1 - CONVERGENCE PROBLEM

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

93a1209.pngCONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

XBOX 360 to Samsung HCM5525W high def convergence issue.

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. Here is there link.

They have put together complete kits for most models that include the parts, step by step photo instructions, repair assistance, etc.

Convergence Help please.....?

The collar adjustments on the top of the crt assembles are simply focus... If you have never removed the crt's it is HIGHLY unlikely you will need to rebalance the crt in your endeavor to set convergence....
Next - never, never, never use some intervention signal to set convergence... Did I get enough nevers in there... Hook up a dvd player or good vcr and start with that as a picture... Set yor collars if they need adjusting.. At this point, and from what you've described just readjust your blue collar back to what you had...
Next, go back into the multi-point convergence and check to make sure you have each quadrant set to as close as you want... Then bring the picture back up and re-check.. If there is any ghosting when you hook this back up to your sat box or cable guess where it's coming from.. You got it, garbage in - garbage out...
With the digital convergence on that unit there is no need to jig the set. (ie: use a string to find center...) Some set require an overlay but their multi-point isn't nearly as complex as that unit...
In short, if your colors align to a white cross you got it!!

Yes, you have a size problem you have horizontal and vertical size. Either its' in the service mode or somewhere on the set, with this set it's probably in menu. Must be set too high. I will look for menu codes! Is this an Akai or Panasonic set?
