Question about HP PSC 1210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

PC power resets w/ HP PSC 1210 plugged in

I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop, running the HP PSC 1210 on a USB port. Everything was working fine until 1/14/08. Now with the PSC plugged in to the PC, the PC will continually reset itself. On one occasion, I saw the flash of a blue screen with error messages, before the reset. This PC has high speed USB ports and had been working fine in the past. I just used the scanner this week.
This is my company computer and the network allows for automatic updates from Windows & McAfee anti-virus. I am running Windows XP professional. I do not have admin rights, so the updates are forced down. Perhaps one of these updates causes a conflict with the HP PSC 1210?

One of these updates causes a conflict more than likely a microsoft hotfix, try using a different usb port and unplug and plug printer back in

I have no idea what is wrong with my scanner. My computer won't even acknowledge it's existence anymore. But the printer function on my HP 2355 works fine.

1. Verify electricity
2. Verify connected to computer still. (USB assumed)
Unplug it and plug it back in at both ends of the wire. Make sure USB is not in a network port.
3. Pull electric from printer 3 min. Restart computer.
4. Test; if no joy reinstall printer, but do not plug in USB until asked for it.

HP PSC 1210 stopped working on a Dell desktop running Vista

Uninstall the drivers again, restart the computer, turn off antivirus, install drivers again, plug cable to another usb port when prompt, if firewall shows pop up window always choose allow or yes. Also make sure that printer is not working "off line", go to control panel, printers and faxes, right click on the printer that you want to use, check if it says "use printer off line", if it does, click on it and it will change to on line.

Power surge to usb port when installing cd

Delete all the USB ports in the device manager
Restart the computer to let XP install all the USB ports again.
Go to the first USB port and right click on it and go to properties. Then on the advance tab click on do not show warnings.
This should resolve the issue.
Is your PC a Dell by any chance?
If so there is a patch available to fix this also.
Please let me know how you get on.

My hp psc 1210 won't work with vista

I had a similar problem! Here is what eventually worked for me, after searching through postings for hours on end...

First, I made sure I had the new driver. Second, (and this might be different for you), my computer recognized my printer, but any time I sent something to print, it never made its way there. The little printer icon at the bottom said 1 document pending, then quickly said 0 documents pending, but nothing ever printed. When I ran HP diagnostics, it said everything was okay with the printer, and even printed a test page! But still nothing from any other program. So, eventually I went to control panel, then printers, then I clicked on the HP printer, then right clicked and went to properties. I changed two things in here, and I'm not sure which one was the solution. First, I changed the security settings (in the security tab) so that every user had access to all options for the printer. Second, on the advanced tab, I selected print directly to printer instead of the spool print documents option. And tada it worked!

May not solve anyone elses problem, but I didn't see this solution in any of the posting sites, so I thought I'd share it. Give it a try!
