Mitsubishi WS-55809 55" Rear Projection Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 30, 2009

Mitsu Hello, I have a mitsubishi big screen tv model 55809 and as soon as i click on the television 2 seconds later it clicks off. I have held the MENU and INPUT buttons and found that I get the 2 and 2 blinking lights. Can you please send instructions on how to fix this to my email? [email protected] I just today replaced the convergence chips and turned the TV back on. I was in the process of trying to align the red and blue cross bars when I moved the blue too far to the right and the TV shut off. When I tried to turn it back on I started to get the auto check error and the TV would shut back off. After I replaced the chips I was having some issues getting the green, red and blue to align using the remote control. When I tried using the factory reset it still was not aligned properly. Any more advice on the alignment issues once I get past the auto shut off would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Double check all the blue 3.9 ohm blue resistors in front of the two STK-392-570 CHIPS. If even one is bad--they can be checked like checking a fuse---the set will not adjust in some way. See other information......

If the set still turns on the protect fuses are good. It is also possible if the resistors are good you may have got a new chip that is bad--this does not happen very often but it can happen. When you see the other information let me know if you have questions.

If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for Free.

Television will not cut on

Do the self check this set has: when the power light goes on and then off: ON the front of the set push and hold both the menu and input buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds.

The power light should blink a two digit error code; 2, pause and 2 is the most common. It will repeat the code about 5 times and to get it to repeat you would have to unplug the set and try to turn it on again etc.

Let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means.

I have a mitsubishi big screen tv model 55809 , as soon as i click on the television 2 seconds later it clicks off.

The model you have selected should have a self check feature: when turns off and the green power light goes off:

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS AND HOLD BOTH MENU AND INPUT together for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code: for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--it will repeat the code about 10 times.

error codes for this set:

1, then 2 no error detected
2, then 1 X-ray protection
2, then 2 short protection
2, then 3 deflection circuit problem
2, then 4 vertical deflection problem

2, then 2 is the most common and easiest to fix.

Let me know what you find and if 2,2 I have detailed instructions for repairing that kind of trouble.

I am here to help people.

Mitsubishi ws-55809 goes to white foggy screen occasionally

It will cost between 30.00 - 70.00 dollars to do it yourself depending on if you buy the parts seperate or as kit.

You can see some examples and find a fix here...

WS-55809 with Universal Remote

you will have to get a new mitsu remote in order to make the adjustment. Most universal remotes are made to just do basic functions, unless you start getting into nice sony touchscreen remotes but then they cost 100 by themselves.
the remote to a mitsubishi wd55513, wd65513 etc will also work on this set, I have done it before.
Here is one on ebay:
