Overheating
When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

Sony pcg-k33 fan is making noises i took comp apart and cleaned fans with brush but noises still exists and are loud and squeeky

that's the actual fan, brushes may need some fresh oil (like wd40), means opening the lappy back up and removing the fan and dropping some oil inside the fan bearing area (where the fan and hub connect)
this should stop the sounds and help the fan move freely.
though this is also a sign that the fan is unhealthy and will eventually need replaced.
hope this helps.

Cpu fan malfunction

Hello Chris....i highly recommend you dont "pry" on anything and it have it serviced by a qualified tech. The vaio incorporates the heatsink and fan as a unit, It's a 2 wire fan that is temp. controled from 5v and up. You can take a vacuum and place at the ventilation opening and remove some of the dirt & dust that has accumulated inside, this will help. The cost is around 100 buxs for a new fan & sink...Sony part # 1-763-483-12. Attached is a pic of the unit..; Also note: a depleted battery will effect fan operation as well.
Hope this helps and will fixya up....

Sony Vaio laptop fan is very loud and continously running

My pcg-k33 was very noisy (fan) so I vacuumed the fan opening with a powerful shop vac. This helped alot. I think that the CPU temperature triggers the fan so keeping the cooling system clean is important. As well, there are openings on the bottom for air so it is important to keep the unit on a surface that doesn't impede airflow (on your lap is a bad idea)
