Question about SanDisk Sansa E280 MP3 Player

Computer will not recognize Sansa e250 MP3 Player

Here is the situation: my husband had an e250, and I was able to download music and videos to it only once. I then bought an e250 and have been able to successfully download music and videos to it several times, but now our computer will not recognize my husband's e250. The device keeps shutting on and off, the Sansa Converter program temporarily recognizes the device and then rejects it, and Windows Media Player will not recognize the device (plus the "sync" link is greyed out). Please advise as soon as possible - my husband is planning to return both devices to the store.

    Hi:

Thank you so much for the quick reply.

I did try updating the firmware and also changed to MSC but it still didn't work. The screen on the e250 shows "connected" and then shuts off to the startup "Sansa" screen and then switches back and forth like that as WMP or the Sansa converter program indicates that the player is not recognized.

This only happens with my husband's e250 and not mine, though! At first we thought it was because our computer won't recognize two of the same model of player for some reason; however, if this were the case, you would think that since my husband's worked at first and was also the first e250 we ever connected to the computer, that it would be more likely that WMP would reject my player instead.

Are there any other "fixes", since the firmware update didn't work?

    Thanks again.

You need to first update your firmware with a windows based computer (one update at a time in order). This will solve a ton of issues. Finally change the "USB Mode" to "MSC" with in the settings menu and you can enjoy your player

1.) download the flash utility from the sansa home page for your device,,
2.) try flashing it then install the firmware..

If that fails then you need to hard reset it

Open it up,
Look for the largest ic on the board, usually a samsung ic
face it where you can read the text on the ic,
on the right count 4 pins down and shorth the other 4 pin with a screw driver,
while shorthjing the pin plug the usb cable in,,
You might need to fl;ash and install the firmware after you do this,,

CAUTION : ENSURE YOU GROUND pins 5 - 8 or you will get a dead player,, you might need top short it multiple times forit to work.. IF YOu kill the player you will need to continously short it until the computer reads it..

What drive do you need to put music on a sandisk mp3 player?

Nothing special, if your computer's operating system is recent enough to recognize the Sansa. Just connect the Sansa to your computer and drag&drop your music files over to it.

If you need a driver, you can download it from the manufacturer's web site at http://www.sansa.com

If you want to put videos and/or photos on it, you'll also need the Sansa Media Converter.

I can't download music to my San Disk 1GB MP3 player that I got for Christmas. I did not get a manual with it.

To put music on your Sansa e250 you will do this:
Download Windows Media Player 9 or 10 to your computer. I would use Media Player 10 as it is the newer player. After you download Media Player 9 or 10 open it up on your computer, and then hook up your mp3 player, it should be recognized by Media Player and then you can transfer the songs to it. You need to put the music cd in your computer cd player and download the songs to Media Player using Windows Media Player 9 or 10. I have also included a website where you can download the user manual, it will say e200, but the instructions are also for the e250. Good Luck, I hope this helps. Please rate me, Thank You.

How do i download music? i'm not reconized by computer . sansa e250

To have your system recognize your Sansa as a disk drive do the following:

1. Turn off the player.

2. Connect the usb cable to the computer. Do not connect it to the player.

3. Slide the lock switch to the right. You will see an orange strip.

4. Connect the usb cable to the player.

5. The player should appear in your computer as an external disk. Copy your music from the player to your computer, or viceversa.

What Videos can be downloaded

This player is better for the YouTube-type videos - short ones. If the Sansa Media Converter that came with the installation CD won't recognize some of your video files, download Riva FLV Encoder and convert the non-recognized videos to AVI format, and then run it through the Media Converter. This player does not usually recognize copyrighted music videos.

Sansa 250 - Having problems downloading music?

You could try opening the folder(s) with your saved music and highlight all the ones you want to transfer to your mp3 player and then right click on one of the highlighted files, left click on Copy, then go to My Computer > Sansa e250 mp3 player should be listed in there, double click on it, then right click in a open white area and left click Paste. It should copy the music right to your player. You could also try using Rhapsody and import your music into it. I use Rhapsody for transferring music to my e250 Sansa mp3 player.
