Replacement dual burner Gaggenau CK594

I have a Gaggenau CK 594 cooktop with the center burner burnt out on the large round dual element. The replacement burner has five electric connection lugs and the cooktop has six wires from the switch that need to be connected. The local repair people that I have contacted said that the Gaggenau people sent them a wiring schematic for the new style burner which they cannot understand. My repair people are saying that Gaggenau will not help them any more that what they already have.

Re: Replacement dual burner Gaggenau CK594

A heating element is a ' load ' only and has nothing to do with 'line' a heating element consumes energy and a line supplies energy. The nomenclature for both is unambiguos. Line and load would indicate a switch or overcurrent device. We are referring to a heating element that is beyond the switch or overcurrent device. Applying a meter to the element with a good understanding of the fundamentals or having a clear diagram that indicates the function of the wires is the only safe way to proceed. Connecting indicator lights in series would never get through UL and your appliance would not have reached market. Obtain the information necessary as to the function of the conductors and connect them according to the manufacturers instructions to avoid violating the UL listing. See NEC 110.3(B) (NFPA 70): Listed and labeled equipment shall be installed and used in accordance with any instructions included. The equipment we are discussing is dangerous if not connected properly please be careful.

Re: Replacement dual burner Gaggenau CK594

You have 2 line, 2 load, and if there is an indicator light, 1 for that and 1 ground. The other guy may be right about the 2 grounds, if not, the indicator light may have a connection for hooking it to another light in series. The tech cannot understand the schematic? get someone who can.

My 5-burner 36" gaggenau has stopped working. I

What the problem is a part in the cooktop that opens to let gas flow to the knobs as soon as they are turned on is bad and no gas coming to surface unit burners. This a safety feature that the German goverment(where Gaggenau is made) requires that part to prevent a gas leak when cooktop is off.

There is a thermistor that must be in the flame area that needs to get hot. When hot it will turn the igniter off and keep the flame on. Check it's location and if it is in the flame then it needs to be replaced. not sure about the central flame problem. could be the switch.

My Jenn AirCooktop Model CVE3401 burner problems

The part you need to replace is the switch. The switch is housed under the top and connects to the dial you are turning.
The switch for the dual burner is 12002125, and 74011242 for the single burner.

The single burner switch runs about $20.00 and the dual runs about $50.00 for the parts

My large dual burner does not heat up completely. Only the center burner works

The only way to find out the problem and repair it is to disassemble it..
Most have to be disassembled from the bottom, with the unit pulled and laying on a blanket to protect the top.)

Could be a bad switch, a bad element, or a wire is burnt off.

Good luck....

Did the element fail, or the switch, or the harness?

Buying and learning to use an ohmmeter is best. You can also inspect both the harness and the burner for damage. If nothing is burnt or broken, then you probably need the switch. Hope this helps!
