I finally got around to start copying my VHS tapes to DVD disc. My wife has been using this player for both formats, mainly DVD and it has been working fine. It has now stopped working. The DVD side will not play any format, original, copies or even a blank dvd, it does not recognise them. Is this a region problem ?

  • garringt May 24, 2008

Me too! I get a "no- read" error on every disk I put in.

I have the same issue on this unit [cannot read disk] No matter what disk I insert. You can hear it trying to load and then the message pops up.

Every disc I put in, formatted or not, including commercial DVD movies that have played before, today gives me the error message noread. Has anyone ever found a solution to this? Thanks.

I am having the same "no read" and "incompatible disk" problem. It won't read or play any DVD's - even movies that used to play perfectly.

I found out that the eye/motor could not find the home switch, all dvd players/recorders need to do this. the motor did work, but would drive the eye to the hard stop and not reset to home. Panasonic was not helpful at all, they of course wanted big $$$$ to do the repair. In the trash it went, i was lucky to get most of the copies made. Panasonic and Sony(Viao labtop, junk) are off my list of equipment to purchase in the future.

Same problem here. Every disc says "no read". Several of which I have used on it in the past.

  • NoKeating4 Apr 06, 2009

Yup, same problem here. I was finalizing a disc last night, and all of a sudden, it produced an error message and now won't read any discs. I'm noticing a trend here!...

I've had multiple problems with this DVD/VCR, the most frustrating being this problem.  When it was working, it was great. Then, all of a sudden it decided to quit.  I had it put away for awhile, becasue I was going to get it fixed and then after several months plugged it in and suddenly it worked like new.  Everything was good for almost 2 years, now suddenly it won't read ANY discs anymore.  It sucks!

I have half your problem. My DMR-ES45V will play commercial DVDs just fine -- menus OK, scene selection OK -- but I cannot get it to record or even to format a blank DVD for recording. I hear a lot of strange sounds -- thumping and grinding -- then the read error statement. But no such noises when it's asked to play a DVD.

The disc drive motor is burned out, its junk...if you didn't finalize the discs, they're junk too unless you buy another Panasonic DMR.

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

Panasonic dvd recorder wont record or play

It is also possible that you are trying to record using an already used -R or an unformatted RAM disk.

Can the panasonic dmr-eh75v copy a vhs tape to DVD?

Yes, that's mostly what I use mine for. You actually copy your VHS to the Hard Drive, then copy from your hard drive to your blank DVD. I'm about 1/3 of my way through reformatting my VHS library (800+ tapes.)

Copying vhs to dvd

The write-protect tab on the cartridge is set to "PROTECT" or the disc is protected witht the "DVD Management" settings.
Some video tapes on the market(including rental videos) are copy-protected to prevent illegal reproductions. Copy-protected video tapes cannot be properly recorded.
You cannot use the copying function when the FUNCTIONS window, the Scheduled Recording List screen, etc. are displayed.
I hope this information can be of some help to you all. Ms Tanya 2/12/08 3:54AM CST.
