##345 is jammed cartridge error. Reasons could include:
-Foreign material or dried ink in head cleaning unit (also known as "purge unit") , or waste ink pump jammed up. Make sure waste ink pump rotates freely, after cleaning. Clean the waste pump-hose too! Waste ink pump is located under head cleaning system.
1.Take apart and wash the ink clogged mechanical parts. Use hot water.
2. Reset waste ink counter Long fix: The following operation takes several hours / days to complete.
-Take apart the whole printer, so there is only a metal frame left,
with couple of paper-rollers, and motors, and the "Print-head cleaning"
-system. Wash this cleaning-system.
-Mark all wires that look the same (especially white flat ones), take
photographs when disassembling.
In detail, remove at least following items:
-Main Power lead!
-Casing (Use bright flashlight to see TWO front cover-screws under the dark plastic!)
-Scanner (BEWARE of fragile flat-wires)
-Main electronic controller board
-Metal plate, plastic cover, and some others.
-Plastic base plate
-All materials that might absorb water. (two sponges, and one rubber foam part)
The two sponges are between metal frame and base plate, they absorb excess
ink. Wash these separately, and dry, or change for new. (I left the
shorter one out, when assembling)
There is also one long rubber foam part that is near where paper comes
out, (visible from outside the printer, when cover is opened).
To get rid of the excess ink: Wash dirty parts heavily for 10 to 15
minutes with hot water. When out-coming water is clear, then it is clean.
-Let it to dry for couple of days, but you can use
your imagination - compressed air could help it dry faster.
-Assemble it back together
How to reset waste ink counter (you should clean the printer also):
*AF-Key = Additional Functions key = the black button with the star in a head above it.
1) Enter SERVICE MODE. (Press AF-Key, followed by "scan", "copy", "scan" -Keys)
2) Select TEST MODE (press right arrow button 13 times).
3) Hit -OK-
4) Select PRINTER TEST
5) Hit -OK-
6) It'll now say "- 8-2 +" press the right arrow key once to get "- 8-3 +"
7) Hit -OK-
8) Select 0. [INK COUNT].
9) Hit -OK-
10) It should return to showing the "8: Printer Test - 8-3 +"
11) Press the [Stop/Reset]key - (black key with triangle and circle on
it) - (returning to the state of 4), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.
Cleaning the print head:
At any time, DO NOTwipe the actual print head with your fingers. Use ONLY water.
-Remove print head assembly from printer.
-Remove ink tanks.
-Use running warm water, wash away the excess ink that is dried around the print head.
-Take one disposable mug, fill with hot water, drop the print head assembly in there, and let it soak for an hour, or so.
(-IF you have massaging shower head, with spray jet -function, use this to deep clean the actual print head.)
-Dry it up carefully, do not wipe actual print head, just tap gently with soft paper.
-Install ink tanks, install assembly to printer, let it settle for some time (5-30 minutes)
-Run Nozzle check, cleaning, print head alignment.
That error is very vague, even the manual says it's an internal unit malfunction, and you should remove and reinstall the printhead, clear any paper jams, and cycle the power off and on. When it doesn't help you need a new control PCB and it's more expensive than a new printer.
Error code ##345 = "BJ cartridge head cleaning error" -reasons for this are: -Foreign material or dried ink in head cleaning unit (also known as "purge unit") , or waste ink pump jammed up. Make sure waste ink pump rotates freely, after cleaning. Clean the waste pump-hose too! Waste ink pump is located under head cleaning system.
Short solution: 1.Take apart and wash the ink clogged mechanical parts. Use hot water. 2. Reset waste ink counter
purge unit: HM1-0723-000
see more parts: http://www.e-parts.fr/pictures/uploaded/files/MP_360_370.pdf
That error is either the ink absorbers are full and need changing and a reset, or the purge/cleaning assembly is gummed up with ink. around $100. to $150 shop repair. Good machine with cheaper inks, probably worth the repair.
hi I don't know if you have the same problem as me but my printer kept saying cartridge jammed so I opened it up and moved the cartride head gently to the left and got a flash light there is a little peice of metal on the base where the cartridges sit you have to make sure it is cliked back in and now mine works again. I hoe this helps
"CHECK PRINTER" ##345
Cause: The printer's internal unit has malfunctioned.
(1) Remove the jammed paper. (Check the paper edge sensor is OFF.)
(2) Press the [OK] key.
(3) Reinstall the printhead.
(4) Turn the power off and on.
If doing this solves you problem then ok or update me the status after doing this.
Hi, Apparently that error code means that the the cartridge is jammed, check that there are no bits of stuff stuck there and try to maybe remove the cartridge and maybe if you have any realigning software run those on it.
There seems to be a lot of people with the same and similar problems and the Canon service tech didn't seem to know what to do, and most are out of warranty too.
Let me know how you go.
