This is a desparate cry for help, as I can imagine I probably will have to pay a fortune for some repair!
I have scanned 1300 slides over 1 year with no problems at all.
But now I can preview a slide o.k. but when I scan it makes all the familiar noises and the progress bar appears, but progress bar shows a "barbers pole" effect moving across instead of a solid colour. Then it tells me "no scanning items, and the Setting Section, where the picture would appear, is blank.
When I close Settings Section - it asks "do I want to save"
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone out there?
Am I in for an expensive repair, and where do I go???? I am in Stockport
Thankyou in advance of some miracle answer!

Thankyou Jackshoot,
My scanner has actually been to Nikon & returned - serviced etc, for only £26+ still not sure what was causing problem, but your idea is worth keeping in case I get it again, Thanks again Megan674
MEGAN674 - I POSTED VERY MUCH THE SAME PROBLEM A COUPLE DAYS AGO. I'M HAVING TROUBLE USING THIS WEB SITE IN THAT I CAN'T FIND MY POSTING ANYMORE SO DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE HAS OFFERED HELP. THIS IS JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU'RE NOT THE LONE RANGER ON THIS.
I got the same problem. And, I followed the suggestion and reinstalled Nikon Scan to no avail. Then I noticed a small bright spot in the scan screen and I realized that I had accidentally "clicked" that screen with Selection Cursor. So, I used the Selection Cursor again, but this time I enlarged it to include the entire scan window. The problem is solved!
