I got the same damn issue just purchased Clearchat Pro USB and pon plugging the device into a USB port Vista pops up with the install driver screen to insert the CD that came with the headset. It does recognize the Clearchat Pro Headset but is this supposed to be plug & play compatible? Searched the box for a driver CD at least 20 times inside and out there simply was no mention of ANY DRIVER. This is for Vista Premium 32 bit. on a completely custom built PC w/OS purchased seperatlely so probably has all the stock Microsoft issues.

Got this as a birthday present - everyone is waiting to see it work!!!

Can't find driver on the net, no disk in the box, grrrr.

Finding others with the same problem is all I can find on the net!

    It looks great though!

    i cant use my microphone

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2008

From how I use it is plug & play. I use it online for my Playstation 2 and there is nothing that I have to do for it to work. It started up the first time I plugged it in.

Same issue here. Purchased the headphones today, but when I plug it into my Vista Ultimate laptop, I get prompted to install the driver cd, which is non-existent. Logitech's website doesn't help either - no drivers that I can find.

I've even tried driverguide.com, but they cannot find drivers either. Vista is updated to SP1, my audio drivers are up-to-date, etc.

Figured out that the design of the USB connector is very shitty. The leads (pins) on the USB do not stick up far enough to firmly contact with the ones in your computer. Had the same exact problem with three of the same model (after returning them twice). Just a really shitty design.

it should automatically install the drivers when you plug it in, but for me it won't...

Sorry to say no solution here, my Advent laptop managed to install whatever drivers it needed but my problem is that the volume control automatically reduces to zero whenever I try to increase volume, this also happens when I use the increase volume control on the headset. I am also running vista and have meddled with the volume control and device settings but cannot set a default volume level. Can anyone hekp with this?

I've searched for an hour with no luck. My headset works as far as the controls go but there is no sound! Running XP. The device is there and it can turn the volume up and down, so basically I have a $40 wired volume remote at the moment.

Do you have sound otherwise? The sound to your headset comes from your sound card. You need to ensure the soundcard is properly installed. If it's ok, check there are no checks in the boxes on your audio controller. Right click on the little speaker icon in the system tray and select "Adjust audio properties", Select the "Audio" tab and choose "Sound playback". Clear any checks from the appropriate boxes and set the volume level to suit. Should now work.

ClearChat Pro USB headset asks for driver upon install

  1. (Vista) Confirm your system restore point first. It needs to be prior to what you're going to attempt here. If it has a recent restore point, great, but if not, make a system restore before you do this, in case it doesn't work.
  2. In the Control Panel, click System, Advanced System Settings, click System Protection, and click System Restore.
  3. (Optional) Try updating your usb drivers before trying the final step, reinstalling the Vista Service Pack 2.
  4. Here's how to verify if your USB (drivers) in the Device Manager are up to date.
  5. Open the Control Panel, System, Device Manager.
  6. Open the Universal Serial Bus controllers (usually at the bottom of the device list).
  7. Right-click, on your first USB, Updating Driver Software. It will look for the update or let you know (which may take a bit of time) that it is up to date already. Repeat this process on all the USB devices.
  8. If that doesn't work, try this: plug in your headset, and keep it plugged into the usb.
  9. In your Windows Updates, re-install the Service Pack 2. After Vista reboots your computer and finishes the install, unplug your headset from the USB and then replug it in. What you are likely to see is a Windows message indicating that it sees the software and is installing it (minus the windows pop-up message of "where's the driver disc for it?").
  10. Now the trick is to get the headset to play the microphone through the speakers appropriately!
