Shut down When I turn on my notepad. it runs great! then after about 5 minutes it just shuts down. When I restart it.It will shut down in a few minutes instead of 5 minutes...I cleaned the cpu cooling tube thinking that overheating might be the cause for the shut down,,,this didn't seem to help too much...I really can't afford a repair shop for there extremly expensive and they all charge quit a lot just to troubleshoot. I've taking some computer classe but don't know too much about laptops, for this is my first one...Hope you guys can give me a little advice...Thanks... Michael

Ok friends, This is what I've tried. to stop this shut down problem. 1. I cleaned and replaced the heat sink, 2.replaced the cpu. 3. The fan seems to be working well. 4. I replaced the motherboard. 5. I bought a new battery. I just can't seem to keep this laptop running more than 5 minutes. I'm now looking at buying a new hard drive and cd/dvd drive...This is all I know I can do...Oh yea I'm also getting new rams...Anyone have any other Ideas besides throwing this in the trash?

1- are u sure is not a software issue (viruses, a restart virus perhaps ....)?
2- with the "case" open, put o large fan to blow on the computer to aid in its cooling, if it will stil restart that fast it might not be becouse heat, but other problems, perhaps power regulating within the laptop ...

if u changed the motherboard and it still crashes than u are cursed ! lol

Maybe is not the computer, but the powergrid or you're power suply adaptor .... have u tryed using anotherone ?!

Have u tried to use a linux OS, a live CD for example, and see if it crashez in the same amount of time as windows ?!

What exactly does happen when it crashes ? Normal shut down, instant shut down, or it just freezes ... ?

Also do a BIOS upgrade/downgrade !!!! Many problems can originate there ....

My SDE - 120N Loads up and runs perfect for about 5 minutes and then it beeps twice and shuts down and restarts. Why?

listen to hear if the cooling fan turns on, you can probably turn it over and look through the grid, if it is loaded with lint then blow it out.. possible your CPU cooling fan is shot

Dewalt Pressure washer keeps shutting off for no reason. plenty of gas and oil, water running to it. starts fine and as soon as I start spraying it shuts down.

Had a similar issue with my dewalt 4200 pw. Unit starting shutting off after spraying for about 5 min. Then difficult to restart, but would start again eventually only to shut down a few min later. Had new engine oil, new pump oil, good gas. I changed the spark plug and unit runs great again!

The unit runs Ok for a few minutes and then shuts down.

Does it do this on just battery power or with an external power source? If on battery poer, then the battery if defective.

Lcd tv shuts down by its self

All you need to do is remove the back cover, then remove the metal cover that covered the power supply. Watch tv w/o cover, it won't shut down again. Try it and post here if it works.
