Hi, Go to control panel, system, then hard ware and device manager, check your audio is installed correctly, if not will be high lighted with a yellow ?; if so click the + and right click audio and update driver fom there. If not possible do a search on google for your driver, down load and install. Hope this helps, regards p.s always re boot after installing a driver.

My sound wont work. i've tried everything but it says i have no audio dive . i dont know what else to do

Newer sound cards use Microsoft's Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) bus. This means that you usually need to install the UAA bus driver first, then the audio chipset driver.

If the sound card came with your system, go to the system manufacturer's website and download drivers for your model. For example, Gateway downloads at

Gateway has a pretty good download section, so you might be able to find what you need on your own. If you can provide more specifics about your computer and/or sound card, we can usually give more specific guidance to the correct downloads. For example, manufacturer, model, operating system, etc.

I need the name for sound driver for one laptop gateway m-6309

Run a driver update program. Even if you don't want to use it to update the drivers, it will at least identify all hardware (including your sound card) and then you can find the correct driver for it.

Driver Detective is the best known, but you can use any of them.

here's my solution to your problem..

solution (1)

1. click right mouse button on My Computer Icon
2. navigate to Properties
3. click on Hardware Tab
4. click on Device Manager

5. if an exclamation point is present on the highlighted text then your computer have a sound card but the device driver is not installed... if this is the case, then search for the driver.

solution (2)

1. Select Start
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on Sound Speech and Audio Devices
4. Click on Adjust the System Volume
5. There should be 2 tick boxes
click on the lower box to display the volume icon in the taskbar..

this is only applicable if there's a sound card present or the sound card device driver is installed in your system.

If this post does not help please include the Gateway model of your pc... it is much easier to look for a driver if you can provide me with the model...

hope this post can solve your problem... :)
