Que 525 CD drive/burner problem

Recently upgraded my MAC OS 9.2.2 to OS X ......."Classic" mode is not working so I am unable to get my Que 525 CD drive/burner to work or for that matter my computer to see it in OS X mode. Do I need a new driver? Will this drive work with OS X at all? Charretta

Re: Que 525 CD drive/burner problem

Unfortunately, after digging around awhile I found this:

"Cypress, which is the company that writes the drivers and made the chipset used in the back panel for these drives will not be making any more drivers for this chipset, so unforunately the drive will not be supported on OS 10.3 and later." - qps-inc

So it seems that it will not work with OSX. Sorry =/

How do you reset an apple macbook laptop

Don't worry just follow the below steps and you will be able to fix your problem
Back up your information to an external medium such as an external hard drive or a flash drive. The install process allows you to transfer current files to a fresh operating system (OS) install, but it is always best to be prepared with a backup of your files in case something goes wrong.

Insert the first install CD or DVD of the operating system software.

Restart your Mac Book or Mac Book Pro. Immediately hold down the "C" key as the computer reboots. This will cause your Mac Book to boot from the CD or DVD you inserted.

See the "Welcome" dialog that asks you to pick a language. It may also ask you to agree to the terms and conditions of the software install. Depending upon which OS version you are using, you might see the software perform several checks on your system. If you do not see this, do not worry.

Choose where to install the OS. You're most likely going to select your primary hard drive. If you have one or more partitions on your hard drive, you can select any of them as long as they are large enough.

Choose your install. You'll be presented with three options: "Upgrade," "Archive and Install," and "Erase and Install."
Choose "Update" to simply update the current OS install on your Mac Book. All your data, files and programs will remain intact.
Choose "Archive and Install" if you need to back up all the data on your system and import it into a fresh install of the software. You will need to reinstall much of your non-Apple software if you choose this option.
Pick "Erase and Install" if you want to erase everything on your hard drive and install a fresh version of the OS. None of your data will remain if you pick this option. This is effectively a factory reset of your Mac Book, as none of your personal settings or data will remain.

Choose the right setting. If you choose "Archive and Install," be sure to check the box to preserve your user and network settings. This will ensure your previous profile data is installed in the new software installation. Once you've chosen an option, select it. Click "OK."

Relax. The Apple OS install will take care of everything from this point. You may be prompted along the way with a few questions, but the install should be mostly automatic. When the install is complete, your Mac Book will restart.

Restore your data. If you chose "Upgrade" or "Archive and Install," the software will prompt you to migrate your old data to the new system. Follow the instructions to ensure your old settings and programs are transferred to the fresh install of the software.

Have a great day

I recently bought two new hard drives to replace my existing drives. My Q: How do I install OS X onto the new drives, I want one as a boot up and the other as a backup. How do I go about configuring the...

First: Boot from the Mac OS X CD that came with your computer, or any other OS X CD (Put the CD in, then reboot while holding the "C" key), select your language

Second: You should re-format your drives. Go to the Utilities menu, select "Disk Utiliy", select the 1st drive in the left pane, click on the "Erase" tab, select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" in the Volume Format pop-up, then give your new drive a name and click "Erase". THIS WILL ERASE YOUR DRIVE!

Do the same thing with your backup drive.

Third: quit the application by going to the "Disk Utility" menu adn select "Quit".

Proceed with the installer and select the drive you want to boot on when it asks you... this will install OS X on the drive you selected...

For the backup, if you have OS X 10.5 Leopard, when you boot for the first time, the system should ask you if you want to use the other disk as a backup drive, just click yes. thanks

I have a power book running Mac OS x 10.4.11. I have and Epson CX4200. I have the disk to install but it tells me it only works with a previous system. What do I do?

It is software for OS 9 probably. If you have Classic installed you may be able to run it there. Check Epson web site for up-dates for OS X.

Transfer of files.

I recommend using a thumb drive (usb flash drive). They are cheap, very convenient and easy to use. If it is a very large amount of data to be transferred, then I would recommend getting an external hard drive that plugs into your usb.

DVD not working

The operating system, Drivers And type of computer all are a factor in why the dvd drive is failing.
i had this happen to me a while ago when i was upgrading and the dvd drives drivers didnt work on my operating system.

I would advise you to get a version of NERO 9 and install it.
Yes it is a burner utility but it also has the up to date drivers for most dvd and cd drives.

My cd rom drive doesn't work

I'd reckon at 4.5 years you've had an extremely good run from your CDROM. You could always try a lens cleaner which you can get from any good music shop but judging by your unit's age you deserve a newer and faster Unit. Maybe a CD burner or even a DVD burner. They are much cheaper these days. My first single speed CDROM cost me $999.00 I can now buy a 52 speed CD Burner for $49.00 BMW
