Maytag dryer LDE5004ACW not turning how do I open to check belt? Solution #1 doesn't explain how to ''pop the top'' ? There are tabs underneath lid in the front but pushing them in doesn't allow lid to be raised. Does the front come off first?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.Use a putty knife to push in the lock tabs just under the lid or top in each corner push in firm and lift the top. When the top is open there are two screws one on each side holding the front on remove and lift the whole front. That's it....And if its the blower belt that comes off we are suppose to put locktite on the pulley to stop that from happening..

there are two tabs about one inch in from either side you need to use a flat tip screw driver and push them in and the lid will pop up so you can get at the drum vein.

Yes it will probably be the belt that has snapped, afraid they can be quite a job to replace as you have to take the drum out of the appliance to get the new belt around the drum. Although it also could be your motor if this has failed it may make a nois but not have th power to turn the drum.

You can open the appliance up by using flat head screwdriver at either end of the lid pushing it into the gap between the frame and the lid and prising it upwards and the top will pop up and you will then be able to see if the belt has snapped

Probably belt broke, can you hear the motor run? Does the drum turn freely?

Here is how to remove the front and the top.

-Open the door, remove the 4 screws, (2 from the hinges and 2 from the open side of the door that are opposite the hinges)

- Pull on the front top of the front panel from both sides it will release and then lift the entire front panel off

- you may be able to get to the belt from here, but if not remove the two screws close to the top that hold the green clips from the front to the top and remove the green clips The top should be free

-lift the door off the frame and set aside.

- you should be able to see how the rest comes apart from there

Using a flat blade, putty knife on the left and right sides between the top and front there are 2 spring clips holding the top down. Push 1 side in at a time while lifting. Once both are popped free the lid will raise and set back for you. The you will see 1 screw on each side holding the front panel to the cabinet. Remove these screws and the front will lift away giving access to the belt. Remember all dryer belts are done from the front. Hope this helps and good luck.

Pop the top - remove the front - Do you see the belt? (it is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch wide.) Remove the drum - find the belt on the bottom of the machine in a little pile on top of the lint.

Check the door switch. To remove the top there are 2 spring clips or screws located inside door opening going up into the lid. Remove and you will be able to see in side nd check the door switch

first the the belt underneath.it may be partially broken, causing the noise. if belt is good, you will need to remove drum to inspect the problem. remove top lid (screws at lint filter too). pop top off and remove front panel screws, unplug switches. drum felt ring may be worn or something stuck in it

check your belts there are two of them one for the pump and the other the transmission
