I have the same problem. Which cover do I need to take off? Where is the AC line fuse located?

    Thanks.

With your help I was able to find and replace the fuse. After replacing the fuse the lights came on, the clock worked, etc. Yeah!

But ...... as soon as I tried to microwave something the fuse blew again. Bummer!! Time for a new microwave?

Issue: Fuse keeps blowing when trying to cook.

Is the unit still under warranty? The problem is either in the power supply section that powers the Magnetron or the Magnetron itself. The clue is that the fuse keeps blowing ONLY when you go to cook something. The Magnetron is the microwave tube that excites the molecules in the food, causing friction, resulting in heating of the food. Magnetrons can be purchased through MCM Electronics. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/ 1-800-543-4330

Call them and tell them the model & make of your oven. They will be able to cross reference a replacement part for you.

Good Luck,

- Jim

THE COVER I TALKED ABOUT IS THE PART THAT GO,S AROUND THE OVEN ON THE OUTSIDE. MAKE SURE THAT YOU THE PLUG FROM THE WALL OUTLET BEFORE YOU GO IN SIDE
THE OVEN. YOU CAN FINED THE AC FUSE BY LOOKING AT THE CORD AS IT GO,S INTO THE OVEN FROM THE BACK
JUST FOLLOW THE WIRES TO THE FUSE. IT,S GOING TO BE
ABOUT A 1/2 INCH LONG AND MAYBE A LITTLE LESS THAN
1/4 INCH AROUND. IT WILL HAVE TWO METAL END CAPS.
SOMETIMES THEY ARE CLEAR AND SOMETIMES NOT.
REPLACE WITH THE SAME RATEING THE RATEING CAN BE
FOUND ON ONE OF THE END CAPS

Built-in Sharp Carousel II Microwave Convection Oven died.

There are a couple of safety thermostats in the oven to shut down power if something overheats. One is on the magnetron tube (the microwave source), the other is on the cooking cavity. These sometimes go bad. There's also a power line fuse that may have failed, or become loose in its mounting clips. These can be tested with an ohmmeter; they should all measure very close to zero ohms if they're good.

Another possibility is that the control circuit board in the oven may have failed. I have worked on several Sharp ovens where the power transformer for the board has gone bad for no good reason. If the board goes bad the oven may appear to be dead as well.

Microwave servicing is best left to professionals. If you're thinking of keeping this one, take it to a service shop (or call for home service) and get an estimate. Then decide whether to repair or replace.

Hope this has helped a little. Thanks for using Fixya!

No power for microwave. model is a sharp 1460a. We miss it! Nothing works. Is there a fuse or is ther a power supply that can go bad???? The recepticles in the house works, so there is no problem there....

Ok. recepticles work, you'll have to take microwave apart make sure its unplugged before you start. Severaly screws around the cabinet of microwave when you take these out make sure you know where they go back because all of them may or may not be same size and length. once you have it apart start at where the cord enters the frame of the microwave and there should be a fuse which is the main fuse close to where the cord comes in microwave. Thats where I'd start.Take fuse out of holder take your meter turn it to ohms, looks like a horse shoe. touch each end at the same time with the leads from the meter and if the meter reads OL fuse is bad if it dont read OL the fuse is good.Get that far and if everything checks out get back in touch with me and I'll give you more info. This is more than likely your problem since not even a light wont come on or even the display.

GE SpacemakerXL Microwave blowing fuse

If its blowing fuses more than likely there is a short somewhere. Make sure you are putting the required size fuse in. Also never put in a higher than recommended amp fuse you could catch the house on fire.Unhook the fan motor and see if the microwave will run. Anything can be fixed but the cost of doing so may be more trying to fix, but really it could be cheaper to buy a new one instead of trying to fix that one. IMO

Our oven would not heat, everything appeared normal lights worked fan worked timer worked tried again on cook 3 closed door and lights went out and we have nothing,I have 120 volts at plug.

Check the voltage at the primary winding of the highvoltage transformer. If it is 120 volt.then controll board part is. Now check the magnetron and related components. If the fuse and the diode are ok replace the magnetron

Power out on Whirlpool over-the-stove microwave

Yes, There are fuses inside the keyboard panel. I would have to take a look at the manual for the specific model you have to identify the easiest way to check the fuse.
Before you go that far check above the hood and see if you can locate the plug end of the microwave. Most installations have a dedicated receptacle above the exhaust vent and microwave. It is usually a space too small for good storage so most housewives store small items and cookbooks in this space. It is usually the culprit for a microwave suddenly going out without someone placing metal inside the oven and heating it.
Heating a metal object or operating a microwave for an extended time will usually blow the fuse.

Nothing works, blank touch pad

before you replace a circuit board check the inline fuse on the unit if you take off the the front panel you usually can see the fuse it is a 20 amp fuse you will need an meter to check resistences across the fuse it should read read 1 to 2 olhs on the meter if that does not work then you need to check tstat on the megatron itself or the the cavity tstat more than likely it is the fuse
