Question about Olympus Stylus 770 SW Digital Camera

1 Answer

Downloading Photos Im having problems downloading photos from my camera to my laptop. i have used the usb cord between laptop and camera and it seems to connect ok. I cant open Olympus media at all so i have tried opening by using explorer. It seems to pick up my first 20 or so photos but will not show the other 200 of them. I havent been able to transfer them accross at all i have even tried copy and paste but an error message keeps coming up saying that its the worng file name. The only thing that i can think of s that since i used it underwater the photos i took then are the ones that i cant download. the 20 that can be viewed on the laptop and downloaded have a completely different file name to those that i have taken underwater and afterward.

Remove the Olympus software.
Let Windows find them with the Camera/Scanner Wizard.
It is likely the laptop has not the memory resources to receive all the photos in one hit so try in batches of 10 or so.

My Pentax S40 will no longer download photos onto my computer

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Since you didn't say what program(s) you're using I can't tell you anything about where it/they may have downloaded your photos to.

Where to plug in the cord in cononSD30 to copy photos to laptop

The Canon PowerShot SD30 uses a camera station to download and print photos. You will need the "interface cable" that came with your camera and camera station.
  • Attach the USB end of the cable to one of your computer's USB ports, and the other end to the Digital Terminal on the camera station base (see photo below);
  • On the camera, slide the camera mode switch to "Play", then place the camera in the camera station, and turn on the Power.
  • The two devices are now connected, ready for photo downloading.
All instructions are in the "Basic Camera User Guide". If you can't find your Canon SD30 manual, you can download a PDF version from the Canon website at:
http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0900011245/01/PSSD30CUGba-EN.pdf

Hope this helps.

Im trying to connect it through a USB cord to the comp and its saying driver not recognised and cannot do anything with it

I suggest that you download the free Picasa software from Google and use that to retrieve and manage your photos.

Picasa is a free download from Google and has many cutting-edge features for picture management. I think that you'll like it.
  • Download Picasa from their web site (click here) to your Desktop
  • Once the Picasa file has completed downloading, Open the file and follow the directions displayed.
  • Once you have Picasa installed, connect your Olympus camera. Picasa will recognize that you have connected the camera and ask you how you want to proceed.
  • Have Picasa copy the images from your camera
  • You can then use Picasa to handle the photos from your camera.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for using FixYa

Olympus cameras have different USB cords and cards, xD cards are used in Olympus and Fuji cameras only. If it is not recognized via USB cable there may be a faulty cable or USB port if the camera is working. You can get a card reader as they are fairly cheap these days and take the card out and put it in the card reader to get the Chrissy photos.

You should take this as an opportunity to break free of the cord entirely. Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:
