1> sometimes supply of low voltage causes some disturbance in trasmitting video signals,it results in darker images while watching.

2> The DVD may have some scratchs or dust-spots or rough-coat on its recording surface ( reflecting LASER beam ) clean DVD and operate again.

3> your DVD player's SMPS (switched mode power supply ) circuitary fails to perform its function properly and giving irregular supply to video-audio card of the DVD player because of having some failure of electronics component housed on this circuitory.

4> switch the mode among 'PAL' , 'NTSC' , 'AUTO' and OTHER in playback mode options ,one by one taking  some minutes.

Now , your problem is solved , Enjoy,Bi.

I can't get closed caption off my dvd player

Some DVD players cannot handle closed captions. Cheaper or older hardware players sometimes strip out the closed caption data. Players that have a progressive scan mode sometimes block captions when in this mode. And anything that's connected with an HDMI cable can't pass through captions. Most software players that you use when you play a DVD on your computer don't have any way to decode the captions. Windows Media Player can display DVD captions, and Apple DVD Player can display pop-on captions but not roll-up style captions. Certain paid versions of WinDVD and PowerDVD have CC capability. Look in your player's preferences to see if there are any closed caption options.

Can not get closed captions on dvd to play on sony tv with captions on tv set on.

Hi, you might have to turn the CC feature off from your TV and select the CC feature from the DVD disc set up.Refer to page 35 of the owners manual to get the correct language caption on your disc(dvd): basically press the audio key on your remote control until the desired captioning appears.

Recording with closed caption

Carl,
Better late than.. I think that the Polo can record the encoded closed captioning onto the HDD, but you have to have a CC equipped television to display the captioning.
The newer Magnavox and Philips recorders sold at Walmart record the captioning, and have the capability to display it even on sets without the built in CC decoder depending upon your recording settings. If you get a digital converter box and connect that as the source to your Polo, you can record CC displayed on the screen if you want.

Closed caption on dvds

Your TV will need to have (CC) capability. To view Closed Captioning (CC) information from a DVD using the CC function of the television, turn off the Progressive Scan function of the DVD player. If the DVD player doesn't have progressive scan then follow the instructions from your TV manual to setup closed captioning.
