What do you mean "Where I live" It is a receiver. It can only get channels that are broadcast within range. Only internet apps can get areas that are not where you live because they use the internet to move the signals to where you live, or you can also use high powered ham radios.
Most police stations are using the new motorola trunking units, they are on encrypted custom band channels and you will not be able to hear them. All police helicopters are equipped with them. All i can hear where i live is Fire dispatch, I cant even hear the fire fighters responses .
not knowing the area you live in i would recommend going to www.google.com and typing in emergency codes (the area you are in) also you can type in the search box... scanner frequecies (area that you live in) and you should find quite a few websites
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=1485 Make note of radio reference.com......This is probably the best resource for frequencies in the United States - and it's free! It is particularly helpful with info on digital trunking and how to program your pro 96 for your specific area. Where I live in Wake County, North Carolina EVERYTHING is now trunked digitally and I found radio reference very helpful.....Happy scan ning!
Just to verify you are trying to program frequencies the scanner is able to receive. Hi. Radio Shack is good for a lot of things. Frequencies are not one of them. Go to the site below and you will find ACCURATE frequencies or "codes" as you refer to them. As far as programming that particular radio I would have to have it in my hands to program it. Good luck. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/
L live in Haywood county NC and I am running the following Radioshack scanners: Pro82, Pro95 and a Pro97. When will the rebanding take these scanners down. Also will the Pro97 beable to be rebanded as it really is a good scanner.
