Delete unwanted NTI backups.

  1. Open the windows explorer and navigate to where the backups are.
  2. Switch your view to details
  3. See which backups are the newest, don't delete them
  4. Delete the rest.
  5. Configure the Backup process to make fewer backups, like once per month, or one full, then several incremental ones.

What do I do to make a backup of my laptom

Get Acronis True Image Home at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ and make a full backup using the Acronis Secure Zone so if your OS gets a virus or corrupted you can restore to the backup by pushing the F11 key before Windows boots. Make sure you set an incremental backup schedule so you can restore your most recent data.

My drive is full so it won't back up anymore!

Check the backup settings in the software that came with the device. You may be saving every backup instead of saving incrementally. An incremental backup will back up the files that have changed after doing one full backup.
You can also view the files on the drive through Windows Explorer.
The files should be dated. Delete the oldest files making sure that they seem to be the same size as the next oldest file.
If your computer is not faulty, and the files on the backup are not the only place that they are copied, you can start over with the backup drive, change the backup settings and create an incremental backup routine.
Depending on the size in Gigabytes of the backup drive, you are limited to the amount of data you can back up.
Example:
If you have a 500Gigabyte drive in your computer and the external backup drive is 250 Gigabytes,a full system backup will not fit.
Go to Windows Explorer, Click on My Computer and view the available space and total size for each drive.

If you need more help, Use Fixya's new Phone Call Service. For $29.99 an expert will walk you through the setup and drive check.

No incremental backups with Maxtor model STM902503OTM301-RK

This may not be the best forum for this question.
I would get on Maxtor's web site and see if they have an on line tech support 'lnstant messenger type of forum' and or E-mail them with your question.
Blessings always,

I have a Sony DAT drive running under Windows Small Business Server 2003. It's taking 12 hours to back up 24gig of data. Is this normal? If not what can I do to speed the process up?

Hello,

Unless the data is changing completly, I would change my backup process to increment for daily use. A full backup should be done once a month or more depending on your business integrety. Also, if you are running the backup while you are using the system, this will slow down the backup as well.

Good Luck

We are trying to backup data files in tape drive 5 of 9 dirves but after backup by about 2 GB , there was a error , ''media full''. Product : ESL712E Product ID : HP Ultrium 2-SCSI

Tape drives are an antiquated backup solution. For less than $100 you can buy a 1 Terabyte USB 2 hard drive with space to back up even the most data-intensive systems.

I HAVE A ULTRIUM TAPE DRIVE 920 IT ALWAYS ASK ME TO OVERWRITE THE TAPE BUT THE TAPE IS NOT YET FULL WHEN IT REACH THE CAPCITY OF 300GB, IT ASK ME TO OVERWRITE THE TAPE???? CAN YOU HELP WITH MY PROBLEM

it asking you to overwrite because that is how you set up the backup job. Setup a new backup job using append instead of normal backup and the message will go away. Its not problem its a feature to prevent you from overwriting data.

Same problem with Backup Exec 10d and Superloader 3 LTO-3.
This is not my first problem with this Superloader. I think it is garbage and will likely be in the garbage very soon. Very expensive garbage unfortunately.
