RCA OPAL M4002A says it needs 4MB

My rca is going crazy. My dad tried to reset it and then it wouldn't turn on and stay on. Instead, it turns on for maybe 10 seconds and displays, "profiling requires 4MB free space." I can't get it to reset completely, back to square 1.
I have tried to format it on my computer. That didn't work, and no i don't have the hold button on. Can i just remove the battery from it? Or will that ruin the rca? PLEASE HELP! It was a Christmas gift and i feel terrible that this happened so soon.

where do i get the firmware? And it's not that my computer won't read it-because my computer still allows me to add and remove songs. However, when i take it off of my computer, that's when i have the problems. Will the firmware be effective even still?

When I try to get my mp3 player turned on, the Opal lights up and says "do not disconnect" then it says building database and turns off immediately. How do I get the device to stay on so I can delete some files?

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Profiling requires 4mb free space

Straiten the end of a paperclip and push it into the reset hole on the back. When you turn it on, it should operate as normal without any data loss.

What song service supports rca opal m4002a mp3 player. napster doesn't work?

Not iTunes. Not Napster.
You could try Rhapsody's MP3 ONLY service - new!
Limewire works, but make sure you anti-virus program is up-to-date.

The key is to use Mp3 format only, and most music services have switched to WMA format.

Opal rca mp3 m4002a TROUBLE!

Disable the auto-sync option in Windows Media Player, and then delete the songs again from Windows Media Player. If auto-sync is not disabled, then those songs will never go away.

M4002a rca mp3

Have you tried resetting it? Theres a small opening on the back. Use a blunt object to press the reset button and then plug it in to your P.C. that will reboot it.

RCA Opal M4002A Need screen

I have an Opal 2GB mp3 player just like yours and I accidentaly busted the screen on it, so I e-mailed the RCA company, they e-mailed me back telling me that I voided the warranty, and I would have to send it back and pay 55 dollars to get a new one, because they don't sell the individual screens.

I hope this helps.

RCA M4018 8GB MP3 Player

Mine didn't recognize either, so what I did is go into the device manager, find the opal in the listings, double-click, disabled the device, re-enabled it, at which time it shows that there's a firmware error. I then re-installed the driver from the cd, unplugged the opal, plugged it back in, and for whatever reason, the computer then recognized the opal as a mass storage device, instead of a portable music player. The computer now sees it everytime, and all I have to do is drag and drop any files I want into the opal. Works like a charm. Hopefully RCA will provide an updated firmware program in the near future, but this might work for you for now. Good luck!
