Memory card is write protected

I have read all the answers about this and tried removing the card and flipping the little switch on the card. The problem is still there. Even if you put a new card in the camera is shows up. The card in the camera now will work fine in another camera but not it in this one. Help?????

Re: Memory card is write protected

Thought the cards have a little tab on them so they can be "write protected" it is a little plastic tab on the side of the memory1.gif card you slide up and down. I know most SD cards1.gif have it, CF cards dont so if its anything besides SD memory its probobly the memory card or some little switch or somthing in the camera that tells the camera when the card is in the "Locked" or "Write protected" mode.

Looking at my SD memory cards1.gif they have a little arrow on the edge and they say "Lock" pointing down, the slider is up. Move yours both ways, maybe it has a bad connection in the card (im not sure what it actualy does) or its in a position the camera thinks its locked?

When my memory card is in my camera i get an error reading "write protect". how do i get this off so i can take pictures?

There should be a little switch on your memory card that is used to turn on write protection. Try removing your card from camera and checking for that switch.

Canon power shot d 10 when memory card is placed in trying to take a photo card reads locked

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

How do I remove"memory card

This could possibly be due to a little switch on the side of the card, very small switch usually on the left side of the card. Try flipping it the other way and plug it back in if it has one.
If there is no switch and theres nothing on the card that you want, you can reformat it under *my computer* in the right-click menu.

The message is memory is write protected please help me. thankyou

This usually means that the switch for write protection has been flipped on the memory card itself. To resolve this, open the memory door and remove the memory card. There will be a small switch on the card, flip it to the off position (opposite of its current state) and reinsert the card into the camera.

What does it mean when the camera says protected card

It means that the memory card is write-protected.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I put the memory card in my say memory card error.memory card lock.

Assuming that you are using an sd card, look on the side. There is a very little switch that makes the card "read-only". If you flip this switch, your problem will be gone.

CARD LOCKED appears oo screen, camera wont work?

Does this camera take a memory card, separate from the built-in memory of the camera? If so, remove that memory card and look closely at all sides and edges, to make sure that there is not a read-only protection switch on it.
Many of these memory cards have tiny switches, sliders back and forth, that protect the memory from being erased.
If you slid that switch into the locked position without being aware that it is there, and without knowing that you did, then the error message makes sense.
Remove the memory card and look at it very carefully.

What does copy write protected mean on my camera?

It means your memory card is switched to write protect. Meaning it cannot be altered unless/until the switch is moved to unlock position.

Remove the SD card and you will see a little toggle switch to unlock the card.
