Question about Certance (CL400LWF-SE) (CL400LWFSE) Ultrium Tape Drive
I have a Certance/Quantum LTO3 400/800GB stand-alone drive. The Power light is on, the Error light is flashing quickly, and the Status light is on solid.
The drive has been power cycled, as has the server it is attached to. The other tape drive in the case works fine. I have a feeling that I am completely hosed. Is my best bet to get Quantum on the phone first thing in the morning and see about a replacement (as the drive is still under warranty)?
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Been a long time since using one of these, but you more than likely need a head cleaner and solution. They are mentioned on this site if you read down http://www.taperesources.com/HARDWARE/ETRA-40-I-AT-Q.html

I highly recommend that you contact Certance for assistance. Tape drives are expensive and you don't want to risk damaging it.
If you are feeling brave you could see if you can manually eject the tape.
Remove the tape drive from the chassis and look for a manual rewind screw on the bottom or back of the drive. This is provided on some drives to allow you to manually wind the tape back into the cartrige and eject it.
I hope this helps.

Bet if you check, it is not overwritting the tape (appending) on the first tape, but will overwrite the second. Check the media properties to see. If it is this, it has probably had an update when it started going south....
Same problem here, on with Symantec about it...
