My mom purchased a USB stick @ a computer store to load her software on to her embroidery machine. However when she puts the stick into her embroidery machine it tells her it is empty. What could be the problem?

You can't just copy the files to the stick, you need to do it through the Husqvarna software, which then writes the files in a format that the sewing machine can read

I have the se 625 embroidery does it take a file from a different embroidery

Do you mean the Brother SE625 embroidery machine? If so, you can import .PES embroidery files using a USB flash drive. See the specifications here: https://www.brother-usa.com/products/se625 . If you have an embroidery design in a different format, you will need to use software to convert the file to the PES format. (This
can include third-party embroidery software, Embird. Since the SE625 doesn't communicate directly with a computer, it did not come with any software. Thus you'll need to purchase the embroidery software separately.)

Note: not all USB drives will work with the SE625. You need a 32GB drive or smaller. See https://download.brother.com/welcome/doch101019/usbmedia_888m00_m02_m03_m04_m20_m30_m31_m36_m37_en_r19-05.pdf for known compatible USB drives.

I hope this helps.

How do I transfer embroidery designs onto the expressive 900 machine without the digitizing software? Can I even do this?

You can purchase design and send them directy to your sewing machine. It has direct connect PC . Which means you can connect it directly from your computure and transfer designs to your sewing machine. Also you can purchase designs in your format from different web sites. They will E mail them to you. Then save them to a USB stick. You can load them from a USB stick into your sewing machine .Look for 2 gig USB sticks ,because when you use larger ones it takes a long time to load the designs. The only drawback to not owning sofeware is you will not be able to see the designs if you chose to save them on your computure. Embird has a 30 free trial and is reasonable priced. It give you the ability to convert designs from other formats and use them in your machine. It will open zipped designs and acts as storage unit for your designs. I do not represent them but i found that it is less expensive than many companies and works well.

I just bought a used Designer 1 ESS machine and I do not know how to use the dongle

You don't need a dongle for the sewing machine. You either have a dongle for the computer embroidery software in which case it goes in your computer when you've installed the software, or you have a USB stick that has the Husqvarna designs on it.

What colour is it? The USB sticks are blue, the 3D software dongles are red. Only problem is, I think the 4D software dongles are blue too!! My Husqvarna Designer 1 USB embroidery stick (blue) has "USB Embroidery Stick" written on it - have a look for that. The dongle will have Hasp or something like that written on it.

If you are pretty sure it is a USB stick, put it in your machine and turn it on. Then touch the disk/stick icon on the lower right hand side of the screen. Your machine should start to read the stick and you will get a pop-up menu where you can choose from the folders on the stick. If you don't, go into the PROG screen. Touch MENU, touch the disk/stick icon and see if the embroidery files on the stick come up then. Each machine came with a set of designs called Embroidery Disk 100 and three alphabets - Palace Script, Kaligraphia and Clarendon. These should all be on the USB stick.

In the event that it is a dongle you have, but not the software, you need to contact the person from whom you purchased the machine.

You can download the Husqvarna designs from the Husqvarna website, but you will need a Husqvarna formatted USB stick to do this. Therefore, you do need software on your computer. There are some low-cost alternatives to the Husqvarna software - Embird and Sew What come to mind. However, a Husqvarna program called 3D Disk Manager USB came with every USB Designer 1 machine, so you should have got that when you purchased the machine. This will be enough for you to load designs from the HV website and from other websites where you purchase designs.

USB drive does not regularly read the USB flash

I have a Designer I USB that suddenly started not reading the usb stick that came with the machine. I was terrified that my machine was going bad, but I always start with the cheapest solution first. I bought a new usb stick, loaded the designs from the old one into my software then loaded everything on the new usb stick. My machine reads it every time so far. I replaced the usb stick about 3 months ago and have not had another problem since. I don't know if this is your problem, but usb sticks can go bad and since they are so cheap, I would try this first.

What Version of VIP customizing is for Designer 1 USB stick

When you purchase the Husqvarna Viking software it comes with a code key called a "Dongle". It plugs into a usb port and "unlocks" the software. You can't just load the software and have it work without the dongle and you cannot just purchase a dongle. That software is about 3 versions old and is not being supported anymore by Viking. Their new software starts at $400 and is called 4D embroidery. Their web site shows what it can do.

Need help with transferring designs to machine

Put the cd into your computer drive and open it. Put your usb stick into one of the ports and open it as well. You must have the emb folder on the usb stick to put the designs into. If they are not there already- turn off your sewing machine and put the stick in. Turn on the machine and go to settings, then embroidery. Find the one that says Format. and touch that one and then let it do it's thing.

Once you have the folders on the usb stick- you can highlight the design name you want from the list (cd file) and drag it to the folder on the usb stick. Alternatively... right click on the design you want to move. Select copy. Open the folder on the usb stick and right click inside it. Select Paste. The design should appear in the folder for the usb and then you can take it out of your computer... put it into the machine and find the design.

If I can help with anything else... lmk.

Embroidery stick

Four questions:
What model Husqvarna sewing machine are you using?
Are you using a Husqvarna formatted USB stick?
Is the embroidery unit attached when you put in the stick?
Is your machine using the latest version of its software?

I might be able to give some more specific help once I know the answers to the above.

Embroidery stick

You need to wait a minute or so after inserting the stick before touching the icon on the screen. This is my procedure, which works for me:
Machine off; put on embroidery arm; turn on machine, calibrate embroidery arm; start to hoop project, look out threads etc for a little while (the machine's internal computer is "booting up" in this time); insert USB stick (make sure it lights up); finish hooping, thread machine for first colour etc for a minute or two; touch stick/floppy icon; design menus load; continue making my selections.
If you get a message "no disk" or something like that, push the stick in tighter - but don't be too rough with it!
The sewing machine actually has a computer inside it, and it needs time to do its thing. It is unfortunate that the internal computer is a very slow one! We are such a "now" generation, it is very frustrating having to wait. I do find that if I occupy myself while I am waiting, it is not such a nuisance and I avoid the temptation to just keep jabbing at that icon until something happens.

Embroidery stick

You need the USB Manager software to view the files. Have a look at all the software that were supplied with the machine. Load the embroidery software on your laptop and then open the USB manager.

When it opens it will show a light blue screen and grey icons to the left. Click in "disk", then click on "read disk" and you should be able to see your designs. The grey icons will turn orange were designs are stored, and the grey ones indicate empty space for more designs.

Enjoy your fantastic machine
