Check all filters, hoses, and the bottom. One or all maybe clogged, so you will need to clean it out. Also check the small areas where the hose attaches to the vacuum. Good Luck!

I borrowed my friends Hoover carpet cleaner and cannot figure out which side the shampoo goes in. Model #F6213-910

Put water in one side (just pick one), if it doesn't spray on the carpet it is the other tank you need to fill with cleaner.

A friend loaned me her Bissell Proheat Turbo carpet cleaner and I don't know how to use it - any help?

I like these cleaners.

First vacuum your carpet very thoroughly.

Depress the lever to tilt back the handle.
Grab the tank from the base. Remove the lid.
Fill the bladder with hot tap water. Replace the lid, and place tank back into the base. Put the handle back upright until it locks into place.
Take the soap container on the side and fill it with the Bissel soap solution. Place your dial on floor cleaner, and select either soap or heavy traffic.
Turn on the machine and the heater. Take your machine to the far end of the room and depress the handle put the machine in the corner depress the trigger and you will see a little spinning thing on the machine starting to spin - this means that the solution is blending and the spray is wetting the carpet. Pull the machine slowly back towards you about three feet and then let go of the trigger and pull the machine a couple more inches. When you stop the trigger will release. Push the machine forward and repeat the pull pass this time without depressing the trigger. For the next pass - overlap each and every pass (I do each pass at the half way point). Do this along the back wall. When you depress the trigger and that spinning dial does not spin - you are either out of water or out of soap. Go over the entire room with this technique.
Now this next step is VERY important. You have to do the whole room process AGAIN - this time with NO SOAP. I have used these machines for years and trust me - if you don't go over it again - your carpet will be a magnet for dirt. This time empty out your soap cup and rinse it out and refill it with WHITE VINEGAR. Again fill your tank with hot water. Re-do the entire room as if you are shampooing the carpet.

Let the carpet dry overnight - the next morning I would recommend applying scotchguard carpet protector (you can get the cans at H.D. or Lowes. Yes the Bissell solution has scotchguard, BUT when I apply the scotchguard again - the carpet stays so much cleaner so much longer.

Do it right the first time and don't cut corners and you will have the cleanest carpet on the block. It's a long process to do it right, but the end result is worth it.

OR if you want to save money and use something more environmentally friendly - fill with white vinegar. This will work just as good and leave your carpet less sticky from the soap and your carpet will stay cleaner longer.

Using too much solution AND leaving dirty streaks in my carpet

The reason for it to use soloution is it may be set on heavy traffic. To fix this turn your knob labeled heavy, normal& light traffic and water rinse to either normal or light traffic. To fix the streaks when you pull the machine backward pull it super slow (you may have to do this a few times) if this dont work take it back

Hoover steam vac clean surge

The recovery tank lid isn't locked down all of the way around. The foam filter on the inside of the tank lid is up too far, needs at leasat a 1/4 in gap from the top. The filter screen by thye indicator is clogged. Some have a duct that sits in front of the recovery tank, either it isn't there or not pushed down all of the way.

The Bissell proheat will not slide across the carpet. The parts seem to be fine not sure why this is happening all of a sudden. I'm currently 1/2 through my living room carpet! UGH!

Check at the bottom front, at the bottom, the outer window and the inner half moon window have come apart. Take off one of the windows and reinstall so they come together in the middle.

Burning smell/lost suction

Is the brush roll turning while on the carpet. If the belt is old, then it has stretched and will slip causing a rubber smell. But if it is an electrical smell, then your motor is failing and will need to be replaced.
