It sounds like the gas valve is dropping out. Make sure the system is venting the exhaust(no restrictions). Then make sure all your wiring connections in the unit are tight. In a millivolt system if all wiring connections aren't tight and clean your circuit will drop in millivolts and the gas valve will drop out. The gas valve requires a certain millivolt to stay open. I hope I was of some assistance!! Good luck!!

Off grid wall mounted empire direct vent heater. Pilot light will stay lit. But when you turn the pilot to on the unit burner and pilot go out after about two minutes.

You may have a bad thermocouple. This is a device that when it gets hot (usually from the pilot light) enough it sends a signal (allows conductivity) which allows the heater to stay lit when switched into the 'heat' or functional mode.
It's a common safety element in all gas furnaces and stoves to ensure that the pilot says lit and no gas can escape in case it somehow extinguishes.

I have a Empire DV210 wall mount vented furnace. The pilot light is very hard to start and has a very small flame not touching the thermopile. The flame is blue but very small. I can not get the primary...

Hi,
The pilot ofifice probably has a bit of dirt in it...to get it out you will need to take the pilot apart and clean it out...this can be fairly difficult on those heaters and getting it back together can be a pain...pay attention as you take it apart...blow our the tip with canned air like you would use to clean your keyboard...
Then reassemble...
Sometimes the "hood" or the cover over the flame will bend up over time and you will also have to bend it down a bit to get the pilot flame onto the thermocouple...make sure the thermocouple is also pushed all the way up in the holder...

My empire wall furnace does not ignite. It has gas flowing because the pilot is light, i have changed the thermostat and wired it two different ways in case I reversed them. What is next? Could it be the...

It could be several things: Is the Control Knob turned from Pilot to ON? If that is the case, wait a few minutes after turning it to ON. That will allow the Thermopile to heat up sufficiently. Be sure the flame is touching the Thermopile. If everything looks correct turn up your Thermostat to higher than the ambient room temperature and see if the burners light. Remember to turn your Wall Thermostat down to the lowest temperature setting before turning the knob from Pilot to ON.

FYI - That Wall Furnace does not have a Thermocouple. It uses a Thermopile instead to generate millivolts of electricity to open the gas valve and maintain the pilot flame.

If it is the Thermopile, you can order it directly from Empire Comfort Systems, as well as download your Owners Manual at www.empirecomfort.com

I have a direct vent wall heater that I switched from a larger lp tank to a double 100 lb cylander tank, now the pilot will light but when I turn the thermostat up the heater won't start.

If you can jump out the thermostat connections on the gas valve and the heater still does not turn on, check to make sure the thermopile is well into the pilot and getting hot. If it is, replace it. That is the safety for the main burner. It will have two wires wrapped with metal and note which terminals it is connected to on the gas valve.

Pilot lights and one panel burns

Empire faw 40 makes a loud bang when starting up. There are three burners. The pilot light is on one burner. When the furnace starts, gas is lit on that burner and the flame is passed on to the other burners by a small channel that can get stopped up. You just have to remove the burners and clean the channel with a small file, like on a finger nail clipper. This can be difficult due to the pilot assemble being attached with two bolts. The bolt on the right has to be removed with a short screw driver. You can not get a socket on it. After you remove it there is enough play to remove the bracket and gas burners.3_4_2012_5_06_50_am.jpg
