Turn your fax off then back on. If the problem persist try a memory clear. Press function 9 * 8 # 7 then press start , then keep pressing your # key until you see memory clear then press start. You will lose #'s that are stored. If the problem still persist try another phone line(analog line). This problem will not be in your owners manual, but if you still need one I would do a google search.
please check your phone cord, try using a different one, sounds like you might either have a bad cord or you have a bad ground inside the speaker or you have a bad connection on you tx/rx board or if you have a phone it could be bad.
"DOCUMENT JAM" refers to your original document that you are trying to send. Lift the top of the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and look for a tiny peice of torn paper. If not, look for a stuck sensor flag (might look like a small plastic finger). If still no go, clean the roller that feeds the original, it may be worn out and slick.
