When printer is turned on, all lights flash nad the display shows an "E".
Its the carriage jam..probably main board timing!
I have two printers here with same problem...the white plastic flag is jamming the carriage (therefore, carriage stall)...
its not the power supply..the white flag is popping out at the wrong time.
I am ordering a main board for one of the printers, to see if its a timing problem.
I have seen this if you have an incompatible USB device plugged into the FRONT USB port. (for cameras)

I have the same problem after storing printer for a while
I have had the Epson cx4800 for about 2 years worked fine now when I turn it on all of the lights flash and letter E appears in the number of copies window
am I out of colored ink or is the printer shot I can't tell about the ink levels it says its full but I know they are not full never had a problem until now
what do you think I know its not the usb ports
Thanks for your time
Bill
when printer is turned on all lights flashes and then turn itself off tried putting usb plug in the front but didn't help 2nd printer thats had this promblem
Same problem with the flashing lights, E error. I think it's simply deteriorating - it has had many ink problems and paper jam problems recently. I don't think it is USB in my case.
I have wiped ink off the ribbon area, that cause the error to go away for a bit but it keeps coming back. If anyone has any alternatives please let me know - I want to stretch this printer out as long as I can before buying a new one!
whem turned on the lights flash and it sounds like it is setting up.
but then shuts down and all the lights go out.
Turn the printer on, sounds like it's warming up and it clicks and all the lights turn on and flashes "E". Pretty sure it started as a paper jam, but I took out all the paper and it still won't change the error.... (and to the one solution there, it has nothing to do with plugging in the camera. I never use my camera on my printer)
cx4800 all lights flashing with E in the window - how can I solve problem?
Same story here. Turn on the C4800 and at first, just the green "on" led flashes. A minute later, all the leds flash, including the E. Of course, we tried the usual disconnecting everything and checking for paper jam. Doubt it's an ink problem because the machine flashes all the lights without slewing the print head back and forth.
Any ideas would be welcome. Looks like we have to toss this machine. Not thrilled. Epson is high quality images, but we buy $150 ink a year, so a color laser printer would be no more costly, and (if my HP Laserjet 4L was typical), far less trouble.
