You should download the wireless drivers direct from Acer's support site HERE.

There are two kinds, either Broadcom or Atheros. Most of the time it's a Broadcom so try that one first.

More than likely a geek has already tried the above solution, if he/she has and you get the same results you can try reseating the wireless card or replacing it outright.

Another thing you could try is booting the computer with a copy of Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is a Live Linux Cd so it won't change anything with the computer but within a few minutes of booting Ubuntu direct from a cd / dvd you'll have a Windows XP like interface that will also have all your drivers pre configured (for the most part).

The purpose of Ubuntu is to help determine if we've got a software issue or hardware issue.

If you want an easy fix you could always just purchase a usb wireless card too.

Let me know if any of this info helps you or if you want more specifics. I don't want to write a novel when a pamphlet will do ;)

Laptop died and now I cant connect my desktop with the belkin usb adapter. It just keeps saying aquiring network address.

Use the Ethernet cable to verify the router or modem is working and connects to the Internet. If so, then check your wireless adapter in the desk top through device manager - it should detect the Belkin. Also, verify you are entering the correct WEP keys to access the wireless connection to the router or modem - sometimes it gets typed in wrong.

I can no longer connect via wireless network. Computer says I do not have a wireless adapter

Hello,
There might be many reasons why this might be happening..
1) Click on start and run (windows + r) and type "ncpa.cpl" and right click on wireless network connection and make sure its enabled. 2) Click on start and run (windows + r) and type "devmgmt.msc" and hit enter. 3) Now expand "network adapters" and double click on your wireless adapter and see what the device status is. If it says an error try re-installing it. If its not detected then there might be some issue with the wireless card inside the laptop and you will have to contact your laptop vendor to get it fixed.
Hope this helped.

Wireless Internet through 2Wire router not working

First of all change your router to WPA rather than WEP. WEP is easily cracked now and is not secure. That might be what your laptop is looking at.

Secondly, update the wireless drivers to the current version from the website.

Make sure your router is broadcasting on 'auto' (802.11a/b/g, and N if supported), It ay be broadcasting only on, say 11g and your laptop doesn't support it. Updating the wireless drivers may also fix this.

Problem connecting to internet

Hi there.
If the other laptop is connecting fine then the problem lies with your laptop, possible bad drivers.
This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to default settings.
What i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "un-install" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again.

keep me informed please as a download of the drivers may be required.

Good luck

I cannot connect my laptop computor to my main computor

Bluetooth is not WiFi,   they are two seperate technologies.

you need a Wireless adapter 802.11b/g for your laptop,

you would connect the two to each other using an adhoc connection,

If you had a wireless router for your internet you could connect directly to the router, (and then you would not have to have your main computer on for you to access the internet.

BTW if your Main machine is near your phone point (for internet connection) you would not need a wireless card for your pc, as you could connect via LAN cable to the wireless router (make sure you get one with lan ports)
