I want to use Skype, but it always says that I need a USB headset. But I believe that my laptop has a built in mic.

Have you checked your device manager settings? You may need to 'enable' the built in mic if it has one. Skype has a test mic that works to help you hear yourself after this.

I can hear the other person im calling clear but they cannot hear me .I have checked the connections but still my built in Mic will not work

Your mic that is build into the camera might not have been selected.

I am new to Skype and have registered . I have a Webcam - Microsoft Life Cam VX-3000- and cannot get any sound , using the test facility . Any ideas ? Everything else seems to be working and I have checked...

If you have a laptop it will have a built-in Mic
If you have a webcam with a built in Mic you now have 2 on your computer and you are going to have to determine which one to use (make it 'default')
I would recommend using the webcam mic as default.
You do not say what your pc or OS is so here is the setup for
Laptop x Vista
Set up Audio

Laptop x webcam/mic x Vista

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"

I try to record a video with my web cam and it has no audio

Hi, first of all you need to make sure you have the microphone configured properly. If using the cams built in mic you need to make sure it works . If using XP Open the control panel and click the sounds and audio deviecs, click the voice tab, there you can select which Mic to use: the USB cam mic or another mic , then click test hardware. If you should see a mic playback test. if the level is there then the mic is working. next see if there is a mic level test/adjustment within the camera software, if using skype you also need to set it up and turn up the Mic level there too. you may need to add a mic, some USB cam built in mic aren't that good. you can buy a cheap mic and plug it into the pink jack.
hope this helps, please leave a 5 thumbs up if this helped

Please help me

You need to check if the mic/s is working?
Are you certain the Logitech webcam has a built-in mic?
To check if the mic works go to Start - All programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and test record your voice and play back to check, also try it with the laptop's built-in mic (if it has one) and the Logitech mic.
If both mics work then you have a choice of which one you can use in Skype, most likely the best one would be the Logitech one.

You need to configure your audio settings in Skype.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Select Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.

If you still have problems get back to me with all details and error messages.
