Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer
Refilled toner cartridge, used prior posts post to extinguish Toner light.
However PRINT SETTINGS report continued to show only one toner replacement (first one was a new toner cartridge).
Followed instructions for installing Reset Gear from Toner Installation Sheet. (Rotate gear approximately 60 degrees counterclockwise to position shown on this instruction sheet.
Reinstalled cartridge and print out now shows 2 toner replacements.
Total page count 3882. Specs say starter cartridge should give 1250, standard 2500, for a total of 3700. I'll report later what I get on refilled cartrdige.
Comments, other suggestions welcomed.
I don't suggest refilling cartridges as I work on printers every day but seems to me that you have done everything correctly the only thing I think you have done is either filled with incorrect toner thus giving a incorrect reading or when moving gear you have dislodged the pin that activates the reset procedure.
