Just had the same problem..............

I discovered that you must only use an SD card and not an SDHD card.

I bought a bigger SD card (2Gig), installed it and copied the data I wanted without any probs. With the SDHD card I couldn't transfer anything and didn't get any help as to why...(there's a lot to be said for trial & error).

Hope this helps

A while ago I put a larger sd card in to my unit,as i wanted to install the complete maps of the U.S.A, i PUT A uLTRA 2 GIG CARD IN, IT WORKED FINE, PUT MY GPS AWAY FOR A FEW MONTHS, YESTERDAy i put the...

Most likely you got a hot copy of the maps and it worked fine for a few minutes in the new unit. Check the course of the map because they know if they are purchased new or are being copied. Not saying you did anything wrong just saying the SD card can only be used for one unit. Contact the company and they will set you straight.

My tomtom will not turn on. I have had it plugged into the car charger for several hours. Help?

try a reset first, i will assume you cant do this, get a clip or pin switch off the unit and remove the sd card, then push the tool into the small reset hole underneath and hold for 15 seconds, then turn your unit back on and replace the sd card, it should then work if not it could be the battery has worn out as they are attached to the charger all the time when driving, hope this helps

Frozen screen

I am not fully up on the third edition but lest see if anything else I have might help you out.

I am going to guess you used tom tom home for the update

If you backed up before the accident then there may be a way to get you up again

If you can get (or have) an sd card reader on your computer then put an empty card in there and format it as fat or fat16

Then tell your tom tom home to RESTORE but point it to your blank sd card.

When it has done throw it in the tom tom and power up this has worked on a couple of other model tom toms.

If you don't have a back up then the only other way is to get a working one and back it up on your machine and do the above.
That's a hit and miss approach though

When i turn on the tom tom one

I saved the map on to my computer from the tom tom in Tom Tom Home and installed it on to a new SD card and now it working perfectly. I bought a 2mb SD card for £6.70 put it into a card reader and connected to computer and installed map and it gave me the instructions to put into device (Tom Tom) and switch on to connect then off and back into card reader to finish. Then I disconnected device which is important to do by the way put the new Sd card into Tom Tom and it is workink perfectly. I hope this help others who have problems.

Tom tom one xl wont accept SD card with map on

If you have TomTom that have the slot for SD card, then it should accepted the SD card. The instruction for how to use the SD card is simple, but it is hidden in the TomTom Home, that's why it's difficult to find it. Below are the instruction how to use the SD card.

1. Format the SD card (FAT32) and do not stick the SD in the slot yet
2. Run Backup (connect TomTom device to computer)
3. Disconnect TomTom from computer and turn off
4. Slide the SD into the slot and connect TomTom back to computer (choose "yes")
5. In the TomTom Home menu, Choosen Backup & Restore >>> and choosen Restore

TomTom Home will add all applications to the SD card. So the internal memory still have the applications and the SD card also had the same applications. Everytime you slide the card in, TomTom will automatic detect and use it as its primary storage, if it not detect, you can go to the device menu and pick the device to connect to.
Whenver you take the SD card out, then TomTom will use its internal memory.

Hope this helpful

Hi, i did the same thing with my tom tom 300 go, i fixed it by borrowing my mothers sd card from her tom tom 710, i put the card into a card reader and copied the hole card to my computer then copied it back onto my sd card out of my tomtom then put in mine and bingo it worked with all the fetchers that her tom tom had and the updated maps it still said it was a 300 but had the 710 stuff try this it worked for me it should work for you.
