you can open the back of the tv and see if it blew the fuse but watch out for the flyback anoid it still holds power if you don't know what that is it the thick red wire that plugs into yhe tube so DON'T UNPLUG IT FROM THE TUBE you will get a big charge and the fuse should be near the flyback and if it still dosen't work the the output IC is probley fried.
If I read your post correctly it sounds like, the remote no longer works the volume or power for the TV set. If this is correct follow the steps below for a Power Scan. If this is not the issue or the steps don't work feel free to contact me and we will sort this out! Power Scan 1.) Hold down the clear "TV" button on the remote for four seconds, then press 500 pound ( #) 2.) Hold down the clear "TV" button on the remote for four seconds, press the big power button once. 3.) Press the channel up button once per second until the TV turns off then press pound (#).
Try several functions Mute Volume and Power to make sure the remote works properly then press "SAT".
Sounds like a probable blown fuse. If you open it up, check near where the power cord attaches to the circuitry-- the fuse will be around there. If it's blown, take the fuse to Radio Shack to see about replacement.
Hello Susan if your tv set is not doing anything then this is more than likely the fuse in the power supply circuit that is faulty, for some reason or another it blew and not allowing the current to flow like it is supposed to, what i would suggest if you have someone handy around or you is to unplug your tv set from the wall outlet open up the back cover of your tv set and change out the fuse that is located right next to where the power cord is at,u can find this fuse at radioshack or any electronic store change it out and your tv set should be back to normal thank you hope this helps,O and also remember to get the same rating as the one that you just toke out when it comes to the voltage and amp ratings thank you.
Got it fixed. Removed back off tv and found the fuse right where the cord enters. Removed fuse[didn't look like it was blown] and got new one from radio shack, installed and now the tv works. That was all it was. Thanks again
I had the same problem and took it apart. Before the repair there was no "click" when I pushed the button, a clue to the problem. The on-off button on the front pushes a weakly made angle piece of plastic inside which had broken. The plastic piece in turn is supposed to push an internal switch which is offset to one side.
I used epoxy (Araldite) to repair the broken plastic angle piece, but it still looks weak to me so I switch the tv off at the wall and leave the on-off button alone (though it does work now).
Opening the case requires some knowledge and care, and can be dangerous. It may void the warranty so be careful or give it to a qualified repair person.
dont be afraid, remove the fuse and have it replaced. but be sure to unplugged the unit before doing so and replace it with the same value. if the fuse get busted again, there is a short somewhere in power supply circuits or the horizontal circuits and its time to bring the unit to a qualified service technician
