Carriage return problem

Can not move the carriage return to the left side. When I push the carriage return key, it does not move left from the center position. It only moves a few spaces to the right when the right cursor key is used.. I tried margin release, tab release, decimal tab release, back space key, indent clear key, but nothing moves it from the center position.

Re: Carriage return problem

Try pressing the margin release key then backspace and reset the left margin.

Carriage return stuck on left side when powering on

The first thing to try is to lubricate the silver rail that the carriage rides on. A few drops of a light oil ( sewing machine oil ) may take care of the problem. Turn machine off, apply oil and move carriage by hand back and forth. Turn back on and see if this took care of it.

Carriage return problem

If it returns with the express key the latching mech. on the rt. side is probably gummy. Take off the case, get some WD40 and spray the mechinism that latches the ret on the rt. side below the platen.

Carriage Return doesn't work. Everything else works fine; but it will not return the carriage when the return key is used.

check to make sure no forien objects are in machine preventing the carrier from moving, with the mach. turned OFF you should be able to move the carrier by hand from one side to the other

How do you unlock a locked carriage?

The solution is not right--there is a carriage return release lever on the far right of the typewriter, that engages a notch on the underside of the roller/carriage return--push it forward to release the lever and you are in business--it has a spoon shaped end and its on the right side
