Upgrade RAM in a Latitude D600. one bay seems to fail

The memory bay is a part of the motherboard. Try each stick in each bay to make sure that the problem is the motherboard itself. Sometimes memory is incompatible with a particular laptop. Sometimes there is a maximum allowable memory. The maximum for your PC is 2 GB.

Are the memory slots colour coded for a reason

mostly to signify bays.... ie.. bay 1 and bay 2, with each bay having a certain number of slots depending on motherboard. if you have more then one stick of memory you need to put one in bay 1 slot 1, and the other in bay 2 slot 1,... 4 sticks of memory (all the same gb) 2 sticks in bay 1, slot 1&2... 2 sticks in bay 2, slots 1&2.. and so forth

Hello. I have a IBM t-30 and for some reason, the battery wont charge. The battery is fairly new. Can anyone offer any solutions?

IBM created your nightmare when sold out to CHINESE copy cats. Your 2- slot MEMORY BAYS are probably at fault. Wing Nang did not properly solder in the memory bays at manufacture. Try cleaning each MEMORY BAY with CLEAN TOOTHBRUSH, also the MEMORY CHIPS themselves, install in ONE memory BAY, test laptop, then in the OTHER BAY. I suspect T30 will work with ONE of those bays loaded. The OTHER BAY is probably "cold soldered".. BETCHA !!
