1. The Vostro 1510 system ships with a wireless feature called the wireless switch. It is located on the left side of the system next to the ExpressCard slot. This switch serves to dectivate or activate the wireless antenna.
   

Wireless Switch LED Settings
The LED (located on the Hinge Cover) on the wireless switch works only when the system is powered on. A user can activate the switch and have it scan for networks only after going through a complete boot process. The switch is used to detect only wireless signals. This setting is in the BIOS under the Wireless section.
The LED indicates the following functionality:

• Solid Blue - The system has detected a wireless signal.
• Off - The system failed to detect a wireless device installed.

If your computer will not connect to a wireless Internet signal, one of the first things to check is whether your computer's wireless switch is turned on.
Many laptop computers have a switch located on the exterior of the computer that controls its ability to connect to wireless networks.
This switch can be accidentally turned off, preventing users from connecting to the Internet.

Determine if your computer's wireless connectivity has been disabled by viewing the network icon in the lower toolbar on your computer's desktop.
When there is a disruption in your computer's Internet connection, the icon will have a red X through it. For further information, go to the computer's Network and Sharing Center where you can troubleshoot connectivity issues and view available wireless networks.
If the computer isn't recognizing any wireless connections (and you're sure that there are wireless signals in your area), the likely problem is that the wireless switch is turned off.
Locate the wireless switch on your computer.
It may be located on either side of the laptop or along the back or front.

Maybe you don't have your wireless turned on. Look onboth sides and in front for the Wireless Switch and turn it on.

Also once the wireless switch is turned on there are keystrokes that can togglethe wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN functionkey located at the lower left of the keyboard, then hit the correct F1 thru F12key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit willhave the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a towerwith the wireless signal icon )))). Normally the screen will displayWireless On or Wireless Off when you toggle the wireless.

Selecting the wireless function Follow the steps below to select the wireless function to be activated when you set the WIRELESS switch on your computer to on. Double-click (wireless switch icon) on the Notification area at the bottom right of the desktop.The Wireless Device Switch dialog box appears. Hints The appearance of the wireless switch icon changes depending on the selected wireless function. Point to the wireless switch icon to display the selected wireless function. To analyze the network condition You can analyze the network condition if you select either or both of the wireless functions under "Wireless LAN" in step 2 above. Click the "Diagnose" button to start Windows Network Diagnostics. When the network analysis is complete, the result is displayed. If any problems are found, follow the on-screen instructions. Hint Windows Network Diagnostics is the function to identify problems the network has and present solutions to them.

Verify that the radio is enabled.
It is possible to disable the transmitter of the wireless card without Device Manager showing any problems.
Note: Follow the instructions provided to enable wireless card.

• Most wireless cards will put an icon in the system tray (the line of icons in the lower right corner of your screen). Right click this icon and it may have a menu option to enable/turn on the wireless radio.
• Some systems come with a Wireless Radio switch to disable the wireless radios. The wireless radio switch is usually located on the front side of the machine. If you are having difficulties with wireless connections, make sure the Wireless Radio switch is set in the On position.

I understand that you are not able to setup the Wireless Network Connection in your Computer.
To fix this issue, please make sure that the Physical Wireless Switch on the Computer is turned ON and then try connecting the Computer to the Wirelss Network.

You can locate the Physical Wireless Switch on the front side of the Computer. Please move the switch toward right side to turn it ON.

Once the Physical Wireless Switch is turned ON, please try setting up the Wireless Network Connection.

If you are not able to to connect to Wireless Network Connection after switching on the Physical Wireless LAN Switch, try using the Wireless Switch Setting Utility.

To enable the Wireless Network Connection using the Wireless Device Switch Utility, please double-click the Wireless Device Switch icon on the right corner of the Taskbar. Then in the open Wireless Device Switch window, please click to check the box next to Enable 2.4Ghz Wireless LAN.

This should fix the issue.

What is the model of yuor laptop?
There will be wireless switch at the base of the laptop - turn it on. If still nok- - check system tray on the right hand side - you will find wireless switch utility there - enable wireless

I assume it's a laptop/notebook.
If so then there is a switch near the light that is on when the adapter is on. It will be a very small slide switch, on the front or side edge. Simply find it and slide to on. Or if it's already on then try pressing the fn key and f8 together, as this sometimes is a second wireless switch.
