I have a acer laptop and i cant remember the password at all. how can i fix the problem at home ?

I'm assuming the password is for your windows login and not a BIOS password.
You can try a reinstall but if you haven't backed up your system you may loose your data.
You can also check out this site for free windows password recovery tools:

Need to bypass or hack the bios password for IBM X41 PC Desktop

okay guys i found i new way to reset the pass with only a screwdriver …
will try to make a site with a tutorial to reset the tmp chip .. i think it works on every ibm notebook
here is a picture from an IBM X41 tablet i reseted the pass today,r,470×470.jpg
you have to put the screwdriver between the 2 pins to contact them .. and now power on ya machine and go to the bios … you will receive a message with an security chip error or something like that
this chip was on the bottom of the mainboard … i think the T Notebooks (T40 , 42 , 43 , R50, R51 have the chip under the touchpad
will share this here for ya guys
i trade with used computers so you have to try many thigs to delete passwords ^^
The same way to delet passwords on DELL (D610, D600, and many more)

My thinkpad (X60s) will not start... when I try to start it, a lock icon shows up on the screen and no key seems to work...

This is a power on password set in bios. The keys appear not to work because it does not show anything you type. If it is a lock icon in the top right corner of the screen with a cursor next to it that is your problem. And we are not sure if there is a global passwork for the thinkpad, for this you would have to call IBM
