I cant figure out what sound drivers to install on my PC. I tried my fail safe realtek audio codec but its not working. Please help!

Is your machine Dell based running Windows? If so I have some bad news. Dell and Microsoft have been having an issue with updates.

Sometimes a windows update will kill Dell's sound drivers. Dell says it's a Windows issue, Microsoft says its a Dell issue, and no one wants to spend the time to fix it. This is a slamdunk for the sound drivers, no recovery short of wiping reformating and reinstalling your op system, and even then, no guarantee you will ever have sound again.

If you are NOT on a dell based machine, then you should be able to get info on your audio devices via the device manager, go to the manufacturer site and get the updated drivers.

Laptop was looping on updates part 3 could not get to home page. so f12 and reloaded o/s and drivers cant get on internet says driver and network adaptor is not installed. Tried drivers disc...

Look in the device manager and see if your network devices are listed or have yellow triangles by them. Since you are typing this I am assuming you have a laptop to use to access the internet. Below are the drivers for your system or at least the links to the drivers. Download them onto a flash or thumb drive. Go to the device manager on your laptop and uninstall all the network adapters listed there. You can keep the drivers if it says that they are there. Reboot the laptop with the thumb drive in a usb slot. Windows will recognize the adapters and want to search for the drivers for them, let windows search first, if it doesn't see the drivers then go into "My computer" find the thumb drive, open it and manually install the adapter software drivers on the thumb drive. If you are not sure which wireless device you have, don't worry...while you are installing the software will tekk you whether it finds the device or not. There are several wireless adapters available for that laptop, so just download all the software and run it all. I would run the wired driver first, that way you can at least get connected via an ethernet cable then run windows update and get the rest of the drivers by hittong custom on the update window and looking through all the optional updates...those include all the updates for your hardware. Links are below.....You didn't specify what operating system you had, so just pick your operating system when the link comes up, it will be a drop down list on the page, then pick your driver downloads and that's it.

I have a dell latitude c400,but i cant seem to install the wireless thing off dell drivers site,it did b4 .

I had the same problem too when I formatted and re-installed back my XP operating system on my dell latitude laptop which required me to download some drivers to enable some devices to work, I went to dell site and I was unable to download the drivers provided. But, when I want to hp site, I download all theirs drivers and surprisingly they all work on my dell laptop. Maybe, you should probably go to Hp site to download those driver you needed. Thanks

I went on the dell site to upgrade a driver for my scroll pad. i noticed a newer audio upgrade and ever since i havent been able to get my sound working again. i also upgraded the video update and my video...

First try rolling back the driver installs in device manager. Right click the Device, properties, driver tab, roll back driver.
If no go, next try a system restore to before the drivers were installed.
If still no help, go to and download Advanced System Care and run it, see if it helps with system performance.
of course make sure you have an up to date antivirus program running on the system.
If all that fails, then you can backup you data and try a PCRESTORE (Control Key Plus F11 Key at boot) or if that is not available, reinstall WIndows Manually

Have you tried to reinstall the wireless card drivers? Sometimes when the install updates you need to update your hardware drivers to keep things running smoothly.
