JVC RX-6042 Sub out not working, swaped sub cable to a spare working speaker out rca and sub works all ok but obviously wrong frequency so no real bass so proved cable and proved actual subwoofer are o.k. Help

There is a difference between SUB and LFE. In 5.1 mode, the LFE is the ".1" channel. It will output bass only when audio information signal is addressed to this channel. In stereo mode, depending of the receiver setting, it can output normal bass when front speakers cannot handle low frequency. In setup menu, you'll probably have to set your Front speakers as "Small" to make the sub channel taking the relay in low frequencies. There also can be many other reasons for your problem but this might be the solution. Good luck!
you can do it a couple of different ways, depending on what you're trying to do with your set-up.if you're trying to do something different than what I describe here, add a comment. for independent volume control (each unit contols volume to a set of speakers independent of each other) use the rca 'tape' out of the jvc into the rca inputs on the back of the gemini.this puts a stereo signal from the jvc to the gemini. if you want your gemini to power your subs, get an rca y-splitter (single female to double male) and a single rca cable, hook single rca cable to sub out of jvc, connect y-splitter to gemini rca inputs, and single rca to y-splitter.
They're passive speakers and the sub jack only puts out LFE Line Level. It's to drive an amp that drives a sub. Besides, it's a car speaker and needs an enclosure to separate the forward sound pressure from the rear sound pressure or it will partially cancel itself out.
It doesn't have a specific low-frequency or subwoofer output.
Depending on your unnamed subwoofer we may be able to work something out. Any sub should be able to work with a full-range Line Level feed.
If you use a Line Level input you won't have volume control of the sub through the receiver.
That would be available at either Tape Out or Aux Out. Just run an RCA pair (or combined to one male out if that's what the sub amp requires).
Whichever one you use, you won't be able to activate that function for listening as it would remove the input to the sub amp.
If your sub accepts speaker level High Level inputs you could drive it with speaker outputs and yoi WOULD have some volume control, assuming the sub had a way to match its initial volume to your other speakers.
Of course, the manual for your sub might explain some of this, too.
Yes you can modify RCA cables to make bare wire tails. If the unit has a sub o/p then you just connect up your sub bass unit to whatever the amp needs.
An RCA cable is 2 wire which is all you would normally need for sub bass speaker level signal. It may be a good idea to eventually upgrade the wire size if you want really good sub bass as lower frequencies draw more current and so require more copper.
Please let me know if this any help, thanks for using FixYa.
Hi, Here you can find the manual for your subwoofer. Looking at its back side, it has 2 RCA plug input for stereo. Receiver has just mono sub output, but as low frequencies are not easily locatable, mono is perfectly OK. Just connect receiver SUB-OUTPUT with RCA cable to your subwoofer's RCA LEFT input. Then adjust volume to match rest of your speakers.
ther should be a diagram in the left hand corner of display of speakers hooked up, make sure sub is shown right under the left right (and possibly) center speaker icons. under adjust, there is a subwoofer volume level. Under settings there is sub (yes, and no for on and off) there is a sub crossover frequency, and i believe there is also a "LFE" att, which is another subwoofer level.
I have a JVC sub woofer SP-pwm 505 can I use this with any system my receiver has RCA jacks it looks like this uses a S cable...is there a cable that would convert "S" cable from sub woofer to an RCA output jack in receiver [email protected]
