I replaced my internal DVD burner that shipped my Apple G4 dual 1 gig (MacOS 10.4.11) with a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D and at first worked well burning CDs and DVDs and reading all the CDs and DVDs I owned. Now I am having trouble reading some DVDs and CDs.....the actual DVD with drivers that came with it can't be read now, although, sometimes it will mysterioulsy read it or if I shutdown with that DVD still in drive and boot back up....will appear on my desktop.
I used patch burn but have not rest the cuda/pmu chip....
Do I need to update the firmware? The current Firmware revision is 1.09. The newest Ihave seen is like 1.21 or something....but I only see updates for PCs, with .exe files, not for Mac OS....

Check with a NEW PC - DVD Cable, if it is NOT that.. then I am sorry, but I reckon it's gone faulty somehow?
Especially if it causes the PC to not boot.
This is a common occurrence, even for NEW units..
