You probably don't need to. I know you may see what looks like a lot of dust, but unless it's completely covered, that dust on the lens has very little effect on your projected picture. If it is really bad, you can try to open it up and clean the lens with a lint-free lens cleaning tissue (NOT FACIAL TISSUE) and a couple of drops of distilled water (or lens cleaning liquid). But you best bet, if it's really dirty is to take it to a service facility.

How do we clean the dust from inside the lense?

It is actually a very skilled job. You have to disassemble the lens assemble as a whole to clean it. There is a special type of liquid, uses for camera lens claning. It can be bought from most of the camera selling showrooms. But, if you are intented to do this work by yoursef, you have all the small to very small type star and plus point screwdrivers, that watch repair persons have. Just see, this is not a simple jpob as you thinks. If you have skill, patience, and some knoledge about the internal fittings of the lens assembly, you can do it by yourself. OK.

I have little spots all over the screen display, i believe to be caused by dust in the lens assembly. could that be the problem? i see a lot of dust behind the glass... how do i clean it?

If there is dirt or other deposits on the LCD panels they are usually most visible at the extremes of focus. They will be blobby. You may also be seeing dead pixels which are clearly visible when in focus. The lens assembly itself will be sealed and is unlikely to be the problem, don't worry about flecks of dust in the lens area. You can clean the external lens with a soft cloth, much like a camera lens.

Projector internal optics are non-user servicable. If you can't live with the spots it will need to go to an approved center for cleaning / or repair. You should be able to find out where via this page

I have Sony VPL CS6 projector and the lens cover stays open and wont shut to cover the lens!! The Lens/Cover light on it flashes? It does project for about 15seconds or so but then goes off, this is when...

It is possible that there can be few reasons for the fault siad:
1.the lamp can be faulty
2. the filter can be clogged.
3. the lens cap trigger switch can be faulty and staying on
4.The power supply can be faulty, not delivering the power but shuts off.
5,the main processor board can be faulty witth errors.
It might need board swapping to confirm.

Acer projector not clear on screen having many dust like spots

Firstly, try the focus function on the lens...

If spots are still present, then there is either:

a) foreign particles inside the lens
b) the LCD panel/s (guessing it's LCD, as you did not specify) have dead pixels
c) the colour filters are damaged

Cleaning dust and dirt from the lens (inside)

Hi Nutty Prof

You will have to open up the unit by unscrewing the screws at the bottom and taking off the top cover of your PB6100.

Right behind the lens is the Lightengine ( where the dust collects )

Take off the cover of the Lightengine by unscrewing the two screws at the top of it . Then blow out the inside of the light engine with Air in a can ( available from most good PC shops )
and then reassemble.

If the dust particles still show after this ( which I doubt it will ) then you will have to take it to a Service Centre to get cleaned out as you will not be able to reassemble the lens once taken apart - it is a HUGE job !

Thanks for using Fixya and Good Luck !
