Where the air comes out take a can of air and blow some into the vents to be sure that there is no dust or dirt blocking the vents.
If that doesn't work then the laptop would need to be taken apart and where the fan is on top of the cpu, check for dirt that is clogged up.
Besides those two steps if the laptop still gets to hot then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

if not it might be worth checking ebay or similar sites to see if you can get a replacement.
my laptop has shut off a couple of times but mainly when its on my lap and my leg is blocking the air holes on the bottom of laptop.
